Anyone got this game yet?

I am having a blast with it

The reviewers are full of shit as usual, I got used to the controls in less than five minutes, and I haven't played Splatoon
>>
>>335132770
I ordered mine yesterday, will be getting by next week. This will be probably GOTY 2016 for me since I have nothing else in my wishlist and Zelda will be certainly delayed.
>>
I couldn't give less of a shit about the controls, the game itself looks poorly designed.

Venom is a tiny space rock, Venom is a teleportation portal, and Metal Andross is fought in chickenshit mode
>>
>>335132770
The game will probably sell well regardless of reviews.

Because what else are Wii U owners going to buy?
>>
>I got used to the controls in less than 5 minutea

And that's how I know you're full of shit, haven't playes the game, and you're probably just shilling.
>>
>>335132770
I think reviewers tried to play by putting the pad in front of them and see the game trought it.
>>
>>335133434
the thing is, he's not the only one to say that. Lots of comments on some reviews and forums said controls are damn easy to master if you're not a complete retard.
>>
>>335133912
They're all shilling then

Nintendo can afford it
>>
>>335134073
Everyone's shilling. You're shilling for Sony and I'm shilling for Nintendo and we're all shilling for 4chan. Except the people who are from reddit, they're shilling reddit.

Fuck off, shill.
>>
Can you turn off the motion controls? I've heard lots of people act like you can't but Giant Bomb's review said you can except for some random spots like hacking or whatever.
>>
I just got done playing a bit of Star Fox Guard, it's pretty fun. It can get hectic as fuck too.

The controls of SFZ are genius once you get used to them. Having the loop de loop and turn around mapped to actual buttons really help, and when used properly maneuvering is a cinch.
Also having the tilt/barrelroll/boost/brake all mapped to the right stick feels natural as fuck, especially when looking through the game pad. This makes the dog fights fun as fuck.
The co-op is a good time as well, but you'd better have a competent pilot.
>>
>>335134505
Weren't those always buttons?
>>
>Lock on to an enemy
>wonder why the aim squares are gone
>its only on the cockpit view now
Why
>>
>>335134745
It was always a boost + up or break + up.

Now all you gotta do is hit one button.
>>
>>335134962
Oh right.
>>
>>335133315

What else are they going to buy? Heh

>Definitive versions of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Bayonetta, Re: Revelations, Tekken 5, Skylanders, Mass Effect 3 and Rayman.
>Massive hits like Minecraft, Assassins Creed, Splinter Cell and Call of Duty with offscreen gamepad support unseen on any other console.
>New Super Mario Bros U.
>Just Dance (not my cup of tea but it looks fun especially on Wii U)
>Super Mario 3D World, Dong Freeze, and Pikmin 3 are a steal at $20.
>Bayonetta 2 (game of the year 2014)
>Wonderful 101
>Endless 3rd party support in the form of the Lego games
>Skylanders
>Amiibo functionality makes DLC more fair than it's ever been
>Monster Hunter 3

>Definitive version of Super Smash Bros. For Wii U

>Literally hundreds of Nindies to choose from!
>Cult classic titles like Metroid: Other M, Star Fox Command, and Donkey Kong 64 all available with a click of the button.
>The only console you can experience My Nintendo.
>The ability to stream whatever you want through the Internet Browser using Plex.
>Hundreds of control types to fit any play style.
>The ability to select burn in reduction

Nintendo owners sure are "suffering" with all these options.

Game looks cool, the star fox I wanted since 64, but how is the gyro? Work well? Do I have to twist and turn in my seat like a spaz?
>>
>>335135148
He's talking about new games senpai
>>
>>335135296
It just works after you get adjusted to it, an hour max
I'll admit that I did find myself moving along with the game pad when I got really into it, shits just immersive brah
But you don't have to move it around a whole lot, minor movements will do. You can recenter the reticle anytime on the fly.
>>
My copy's supposed to come in today. I feel like I might have spoiled myself too much by watching so many videos showing off the game. At the very least I haven't watched anything regarding the final level/boss
>>
>>335132770
I can't believe people were complaining about the motion controls

FFS you can literally play it as Star Fox 64 by holding the pad relatively still

I like what little I played of it this morning before I had to head to work, though I'm a little concerned about the lack of extra paths. I unlocked the walker and went back to Corneria to go right at the fork but doing so and saving Bill didn't seem to have any effect on the boss fight or the path afterwards.

I could've sworn I'd seen that Corneria has a boss on the water so there must be a third path or something
>>
3

>>
>>335137382
You gotta play through the levels they give you first, then portals will show up on the map eventually, that's when you can access the different paths.

After you beat it once, Arcade mode unlocks and that plays more like SF64 in terms of branching paths.

length of this type of game doesn't matter, it's the replayability you get out of it.
>>
>>335133434
Nah, the controls are piss easy to get accustomed to. Especially with the arwing, hell, having motion controls set only to when you press fire is essentially classic star Fox
>>
>>335134271
For the gyro wing and walker no. Arwing you can disable them to an extent so it only uses them when you press ZR the fire button.
>>
So let me get this straight:

The reward for getting all the medals on all the stages is NOTHING.
>>
>>335137509
That video has blatantly dishonest. No one knows how long it will take to 100%. Stop believing everything you read on /v/ like an idiot.

Anyways it was not 100%, just claimed.
>>

No Expert Mode with aviators. No multiplayer. No multiplayer with unlockable tanks and bazookas.

They weren't exactly blown away by the game either, but at least they called out the bullshit reviews where people couldn't even finish a 3-4 game with the month of review time they had.

I got the game today and its pretty fucking good. Just finished my first run. I'd definitely say its the best game in the series since 64.

I don't even think the controls are that bad to be honest. I had the same experience with Kid icarus. Everyone said that game had bad controls but I found them fine.

A lot of games that get flack for unorthodox control schemes tend to become my GOTY or even all-time favorites. Kid Icarus Uprising, The World Ends With You, Wonderful 101, Skyward Sword.

I'm really hoping Star Fox Zero is like that as well, but I am a little concerned about the sparse content. I understand you gotta replay stages for new paths and gold medals, but there's no denying that there's a lack of content compared to previous titles. Even a half-assed online dogfighting mode would have encouraged people to master the controls and play it more.
>>
>>335140585
Oh I will. I'm not going to buy it though. This is an obvious rental.

It's not hard to get used to the controls but that doesn't mean they aren't ass. Anyone with half a brain would know something is up when there's a dedicated re-calibration button present, shit is annoying just like Skyward Sword was.
>>
>>335132770
The controls take literally an hour to master and I've never played a rail shooter before.
>>
>>335141453
>Anyone with half a brain would know something is up when there's a dedicated re-calibration button present
The "thing" being the existence of motion controls, because having motion controls without a re-calibrate button is fucking retarded

The controls are piss-easy to learn and allow for much more variety in what happens on screen because your reticle isn't tied to your position on-screen.
>>
>>335140835
Because the game comes with another game, which is Guard.

Without Guard, the price goes down to 50 or 40.
>>
>>335140774
>there's a lack of content compared to previous titles
Not really, I'd say its no shorter than 64.
>>

>>
>>335141657
If your controls are so busted they need a dedicated button to fix them, the game is shit plain and simple.
>>
>>335141774
100%ing 64 would take at least 5 or 6 runs and probably take about 7 hours, and you unlock shit for doing it.

Zero was 3 and a half hours and you get nothing.
>>
>>335134962
You can also do the classic commands as well, which feels pretty good now that you're tilting both sticks.
>>

I agree, the controls feel natural after a bit, and actually help a shitload when you can't quite turn in on an enemy, but it's easy to just do a minor adjustment with the gamepad. I feel that mapping that to the right stick wouldn't have felt good because of how much it would want to snap back. You'd be fighting it more, whereas this just feels like mouse movement. It's smart. When you get to the end of the first mission and you have to hit those little targets just right, that's when it all clicks.

The one problem with it I have is that when you do the lock on, you lose the reticle, even if you adjust it into view. I get why: they want you to look at the game pad, but when your ship is facing a completely different direction, you just won't see what you're locking onto, so if you use the pad to see what you're shooting, you'll often lose it by the time it flies around you.

In the linear shootouts and the all-range modes where you're not dog-fighting it's easy to quickly swap between viewing the screen and tablet, because what's in front of you will still be line of sight, but when something is out of your front 120, you can't really turn to see it on the gamepad, and still manage your control of the ship at the same time, so if my cursor was still on screen like it is every other time with the motion controls on, it would be a lot easier to shoot those fuckers down.

The lock on was clearly designed to solve a problem with the dog fighting, but I feel by removing the targeting reticle, it just takes it a step back further, especially since now there are no other indicators of where that enemy is.

Other than that it feels pretty good, but it just bums me out that the dog fighting (something that I really wanted to be good), feels so rough and clumsy.

This time, by having the two screens coupled with the aiming and the flight controls separately, what that meant is that we had an ability to create really cool cinematic sequences on the TV that you could still play through, and fly using the cockpit screen on the Gamepad
>It also gave us an ability to make a more cinematic experience that’s still interactive.

>that you could still play through

Important thing to note here. And that's always been sort of the thing with Star Fox, even with 64 it got comparisons to Star Wars space battles that you could actually play, because characters are talking and shit while you still had control. You look at Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time, those games do come to a standstill during cutscenes and story development in comparison to Star Fox.

Hell Kid Icarus Uprising did the same thing, 90% of the plot is done while playing the game instead of cutscenes.

I had always assumed that Nintendrones were just a meme. Until today.

Guys, the Wii U has plenty of good games (I would know, I fucking own one) but that doesn't mean you need to defend every turd Nintendo shits out. Sometimes even masters make mistakes.
>>

Comparing Star Fox to The Order is full blown retardism, no matter who said it.
>>
>>335143608

>>335143661
Here's something very important that you missed in your eargerness to shitpost: In Star Fox Zero, you're playing the game, shooting shit and dodging attacks while that "cinematic experience" is happening. What they meant is that it feels like you're in a movie scene, like the Star Wars space battles, while you play, with other characters constantly talking and interacting while you're doing your objectives. You're not sitting in your chair with the controller on the floor watching a movie clip like with The Order, Metroid Other M, or any Metal Gear Solid game.

Haven't played Starfox so I can't comment on how well I use it, but in general gyro aiming is met with a "I wont even bother to adapt to it" mentality even in situations where it outright superior to console controls.

It's honestly annoying how companies are asked to be technologically progressive in that are trendy but get panned for progressing technology in areas that aren't. Just let technology progress and tweak shit as we go along.
>>
>>335144824

Except it is, because he said somethig retarded about his game
>>
The rail segments are fucking great and if the game was just that I'd have no complaints at all. Landmaster is okay, chicken walker I'm not super into but no complaints with it either.

My only complaints are the gyrowing which is basically an entirely different game and slow as shit, not the cool rail shooter Star Fox is, and that all range mode can be mad fucking awkward because of no map and the way lock on works.

The controls are much the same - they're great during rail segments but can be more awkward at other times.

Bosses are fucking amazing so far though. They're huge and fun to fight.

SFZ was built entirely around the gyro aiming, you literally cannot beat the game without them. Therefore an option to turn them off isn't feasible. At least give it a rent before you completely write it off, it's a solid Star Fox game.

Then please explain why the Gyro control for Splatoon is bad.

Because as it is currently, it allows for fairly precise aiming while still allowing you to move about freely. The main downside is that it can be awkward to get used to at first but once you get the hang of it, it feels pretty natural and allow you to do some good snap shots and other shit.

Plenty of games /v/ likes are short and the games you mentioned were shat on because of gameplay you fucking retard. The gameplay length didn't help either since Gone Home for example had zero replayability.

Why the fuck is the concept of there being other aspects of a game that can justify a price so alien to faggots like you? All I've ever seen in this thread is "3 HOURS 3 HOURS 3 HOURS"

Not a single time have I seen you faggots mention gameplay, replayability, characters, story or anything like that and how they affect the value of the game as a whole.

You're a bunch of fucking parrots, repeating the same shit over and over without anything of substance to bring into the discussion, because even if I bring up replayability and score system, something common in these types of games and the reason why they are enjoyed, not the length of the campaign. you'll ignore it and just keep spouting the same bullshit.

The worst part is that it makes it obvious that you're either a shitposter or fucking underage kiddo that has zero experience with the original Star Fox games, Gradius and other games like it.
