Reminder that Blizzard didn't shut down Nostralrius and all the idiots whining about it are being played like a god damn fiddle.
Blizzard never issued a cease and desist, there is no documentation, no pictures, no proofs or time-stamped mails. Only the people behind the server's word for this being what happened.
In reality Nost was losing money and not meeting server funding goals because the people who played there did not donate enough to keep it running. Being the stingy douchebags that they are and not wanting to pay money for an ancient game (which is why they would never pay for legacy either, regardless of what they claim). The people responsible for the server simply chose to pull the plug, knowing it would make a lot of entitled autistic assholes want their blood.
So they came up with a brilliant plan. Blame Blizzard, go out as heroes instead of failures, not like anyone could prove them wrong. Blizzard wouldn't even bother to defend themselves from allegations like that, because it would be meaningless and doing so would make it seem like they endorse pirate servers.
In one fell swoop, all heat is taken off the Nost owners and put on Blizzard. Angry mails, endless whining, internet petitions (lol) and other bullshit demanding legacy servers as reparation for "shutting down Nostralrius".

I like both modern WoW and Vanilla for different reasons. Vanilla is more for social/RPG elements, whereas retail is for more fun & complex raiding. I ran with Blacklisted on Nost, and grinding for 4-5 hours for 1 raid night was fucking awful. Much prefer WoD's raiding, where I can do Cata raids on one char and be set for consumes for 2 weeks. I wouldn't mind them bringing a Vanilla server back, and I would casually play it, but I imagine a lot of people would see how much of a bitch everything is and then quit it.
Nost got a lot of people because of shilling and being f2p. If you take away the f2p part, I guarantee you lose 60% of the playerbase. Even with Blizzard's marketing, I'm not sure it would be worth it for them.

Maybe because of the introduction of social media and how integrated it's become the social aspects of MMOs seem to have fallen by the wayside a bit. There's just better ways to interact with lots of people online nowadays.
When MMOs were first introduced I loved the fact that I could talk to somebody in another country. I was legitimately amazed by it.

Blizzard is dealing with people in the millions. Their needs come before you nost fags crying about how you want your server back when you know full well more than half of you wouldn't pay for it.
Making this server would certainly affect what content would be added to legion (no it isn't as simple as flipping a switch.) Thus it won't happen (if at all) for at least a year or two depending on how legion does and it's subscriber retention.
WoW is shit in general now and any new expansions or nostalgia servers will not stop blizzard from sliding their dick down your throat while you give them 15$ a month
