I still don't get why Metroid fans pretend the Prime fanbase is an issue.
I've never seen one who hates the older games and most of the shitposting is started by Super purists. They just talk about the whole series and post art dumps.

Windwaker threads attract a bunch of shitters who like to talk about how all the games are bad, but I wouldn't say either game has a bad fanbase. Windwaker by far has the worst.....I guess 'anti-fanbase', that is people that -don't- like the game.
Though there are a fair number of 'don't sexualize the ZSS' 'Sexualize the ZSS' shitflinging, but I assume the people on either side of that argument aren't actually fans of the game. Idk.

WW fans. I don't know what Prime fans do other than get shit on by Super fans but I've met few WW fans that I can take seriously. Almost all of them favor the game for its charm and atmosphere in spite of the rough pacing and unfinished main quest. It's the Zelda I've seen the least defense for in terms of gameplay.

Wind Waker does do some things right with its core gameplay.
It's the only 3D Zelda that has any sense of exploration at all, I like how you can interact with basically every enemy with every item rather than half the inventory being worthless outside of scripted puzzle segments, it has some of the better 3D Zelda boss battles, and the seamless overworld is a great feature. It unarguably has the weakest 3D dungeons but that's not the core gameplay in Wind Waker, you spend most of your time dicking around on the sea or in combat.
That said I'd definitely call the original Gamecube release a guilty pleasure. The Wii U release goes a long way to resolve the games more glaring issues and make it flow better, even though its fans will argue its a downgrade because of the lighting, but you cant ignore how frustrating the original can get with its bullshit.
I like Wind Waker more than Twilight Princess, but I would agree there are a bunch of annoying WW fans.
There basically aren't any bad Primefags.

It's definitely Wind Waker fags. Primefags generally love the entire Metroid series but simply prefer Prime whereas Wind Waker fags go out of their way to shit on just about every other Zelda title in existence, especially Twilght Princess.

I do agree that it handles the sea in general well but a myriad of problems pop up once you hit land and that's like half the game. There's so many islands that in and of themselves are more disappointing than the process of actually finding them, you run into the potential issue of not even being able to properly explore islands until you're basically hunting down Triforce pieces, and as I already mentioned the main quest in general is pretty sketchy. That all said, it does have some good bosses and the underwater Hyrule bits were consistently great.

Majora's Mask has a lot too bit its not done through the environment, it's mostly through interacting with the NPCs, learning their schedules and managing your time limit. It's a very different feel altogether.
Ocarina of Time was pretty barebones with field exploration, with lots of shit being tied to minigames in the town and holes in the ground. The dungeons in that game are really what shine and make it great, and it's a similar case for Twilight Princess. Skyward Sword had nothing.

I'm not quite a "Primefag" but I do enjoy the trilogy in that they're slow paced, atmospheric action adventures. I think people who like the speedrunning or non-linearity aspects of the earlier Metroids are rightfully disappointed by it but Prime generally does its own thing and I think it does it well.
The worst are the ones that hate them.
The Zelda hate club is probably the worst of all time. They shit all over the games despite them being among the best games in existence. Criticism is a good thing, but these people take it way, way too far.
Metroid doesn't attract as much hate, but it does have the whiny crybabies saying it's dead because of Other M. I'm not defending that game, but the franchise has no signs of being dead.

Skyward Sword doesn't have "nothing", but it doesn't do much either. Skyloft is basically an inferior Clock Town retread but it still has its sidequests, there are a handful of islands in the sky with points of interest, and though dowsing really trivializes it there are Goddess Cubes to find. As a whole though it is a considerable step down from the 3D Zeldas exploration wise, that I would never disagree with.
