Everyone hates this game because they are bad at it.
It's not poor obstacle design. You dont know how to control the character properly. Once you are comfortable enough to control the character well, speedrunning comes naturally. Just finishing the levels in their intended path gets pretty damn close to the usual 18 minute any% speedrun, about 20 minutes or so.
Before you make any judgements about this game, at least get to the salt factory. I didnt get REALLY good at control until I beat at least dark world Rapture fully for the first time.
Tldr; the game's usually not bad, you're bad, the game exploits your frustration to motivate you to get better
