My mom's husband recently got me a GTX 980ti card as a gift. I've never really played any AAA PC games. What are some good games that I'm able to play now?
>>335017526
does that make you his wife's son?
>>335017526
>moms husband
cuck
>>335017601
Yes, I guess. He's trying to get friendly with me but it's just weird since we're both adults.
>>335017526
Witcher
Metro (don't play the redux)
you're gonna need the rest of the computer too, bub
alternatively,
>don't buy PC parts for me or my son ever again
>>335018136
well eitherway u got a pretty nice gift
>>335018136
Just call him daddy anon :^)
>>335018638
What's wrong with the redux?
>>335018136
I work with my step dad. It was pretty awkward for a while at the start but we've become pretty close over the 3 and a bit years I've known him. Better than my 'real' dad (^:

Le epic cuck meme reversed!
This is my old computer, built from parts given to me and a GPU I got on sale.
Giving it to my little brother.
Can you guys recommend a good gaymin build around $1000, give or take; that will blow my mind?
If it'll play over 1080p, I'll have to invest in a new monitor lol
>>335017526
Witcher 3
XCOM 2
New Tomb Raider
GTA 5
Can't even think about any more graphically demanding games that are actually decent
>want to switch to PC gaming
>don't know anyone who could put the PC together once I assemble the pieces
I don't want to do it myself because I'm scared of breaking it or messing up.
>>335020862
Jusy watch a video or two, its pretty easy. I ve done it myself without any prior knowledge.
>>335020862
It's pretty easy nowdays, Youutbe is your friend.
If you're still scared there's places all over who will put it together for you and install drivers and whatnot for like $50, you could always do that and if they're local ask to watch so you know for future.
>>335017526
Man, I love this meme.
>>335020719
Go on tomshardware com. They have different builds with price already made, if you make a post giving your budget and a small guideline people will make it for you.
>>335020862
Your checklist
>choose your cpu
> choose your motherboard. Motherboard needs to have the same pin type as your cpu.
>any gpu as in graphics card you want
> RAM, SSD and HDD, cables for ssd and hdd, power supply, you computercase
>external devices you can figure out yourself
>>335017526
>mom's husband
>>335020862
Fucking following the instructions that come with your motherboard you damn retard. Shit's colored and WORDS are written on things.
>>335020862
Nowdays it's extremely easy, the only thing you just gotta make sure of is that you have the correct parts and that they're all compatible.
Just out of interest, how old are you? do you live at home and are you studying/have a job?
>>335020862
It's really really easy, don't stress about it. There's guides online that can tell you exactly what to do.
I'd recommend using pcpartpicker.com. It'll hold your hand through buying shit and the graphics card will plug into whatever motherboard you buy just fine.
>>335017526
I'm surprised he didn't get you the 970. It would have been the perfect card for his lifestyle.
>>335018136
Move out first before you call yourself an adult>>335018638
>>335020862
i felt the same but it's actually really easy once you get comfortable on how much stress ( a lot ) the parts can take while you're trying to jam in the power connectors, GPU, .etc
It's really damn safe now because you don't have to worry about the pins on the CPU itself, and there's practically no way to put it in the wrong way now unlike in the past (a friend somehow put it in the wrong way and naturally, ended up ruining the pins), or at least I don't see how with the motherboard I had.

22, studying
>>335022107
But I did
>>335022107
>Move out first before you call yourself an adult
I work 45 to 50 hours a week and I still live with my parents because rent is fucking crazy and I don't have any friends to be roommates with.
>>335022436
>>335022669
2 different answers?
Whatever. Good luck building your pc, also pcpartpicker.com will hold your hand to get parts that work together, then just watch a youtube tutorial on how to put it all together. It's a lot easier than it looks.
>>335022107
I am >30 and at this point it's my parents living with me.
>>335017526
Basically TW3 and that's about it.

Die in the house fire caused by it.

Putting together a PC is super easy, it's like playing with expensive legos. Word of advice: make sure to buy some thermal paste and put just a smalled pea sized amount right into the cpu pins near the middle before you plug it in.
>>335022963
Been studying for awhile,
I'm >>335020719
And I'm sure if I go with any tier above the $450 range, I'll see improvement. Just trying to get a feel for how much
>>335023613
>make sure to buy some thermal paste
The pre-applied thermal paste are good enough, why add the extra work for a newbie for minimal difference? That's something they can do a year or so later when they're cleaning up the inside of the PC and have to replace the thermal paste anyways.
>>335020862
Literally as easy as legos people just watch youtube tutorials these days.

For 1300usd you an have a nice pc with an i7 6700k (with watercooler), a r9 390x 8gb, 16gb of ram, and 250 gb ssd 850 evo.
Swap that i7 and 390x for an i5 6500k and a gtx 970 and you got it for 1000
