Invading isn't meant for the invader to win but it's meant to harass players that summon too much. Maybe you can kill one or two phantoms and force the hist to chug on estus. But winning is hardly achievable.
If you want true 1v1 pvp, just use the red soap sign.

What does sin do in this game?
In ds2 if you sinned Blue's would invade you and Lost Sinner's Sword did less damage per sin.
Does it have any affect in this game at all? There's a place you can go to remove the sin you've accumulated so surely sin must have an effect?

This is how I always play when invading. Once you get the orb, there are no repercussions. Duel-fags can use the siapstone, I want liven up some poor random assholes playing experience. Invaders should never concern themselves with thoughts of dying.

There are plenty of people who want to duel. Go to Kiln anywhere from SL70-100 and you can get summoned no problem. It takes seconds for me. Invasions were never meant to be structured PvP, DaS 3 just puts the advantage in the host's corner now.

I'm doing a lot of co-op with friends for my second playthrough, getting invaded is actually a good thing, since it's never a challenge being 3/4v1 and we also get an estus for killing the invader. Getting invaded actually helps the group more than it bothers.

PvP is fine, I always use the red soap stone. it's just a bunch of kids upset that they get ganked whenever they invade someone's world.
If you're halting the progress of someone else's game, don't expect them to play fairsy wairsy playground rules with you.
I actually prefer invasions the way they are. I had always felt somewhat guilty doing invasions but people who summon their way through these games don't deserve any sympathy. Invasions are certainly more difficult and frustrating but it's worth it in the end.
When you do come out victorious in these invasions it's far more satisfying than ever before. There is nothing like the sight of the host turning around and fleeing back to the bonfire after you just destroyed his phantoms right in front of him. He knows he doesn't stand a chance against you. You just killed his autoplay feature and his only hope is to run in circles until more phantoms can come and help him. Then you shoot him in the back with your bow until he runs out of estus and dies like a bitch. All that progress that others made for him, gone. No better feeling.

You can win a lot of 3 v 1 battles just by being good and knowing how to use not only the environment but the right items.
You need to think about what they are doing and what's coming around the corner and what you can do to not get trapped.
Someone hyper aggressive with a slow weapon? Break out the parry dagger.
They prone to chase? Use rope weapons to throw items behind you to punish.
They use seed of the giant? Maybe use your new found abilities to aggro and draw a mimic over.
It's not fair but the fun comes from the challenge. And there ain't nothing better than those times when killing them one by one goes perfect until the host is left quaking in his boots.

If you want to do a Jonathan build, go Lightning Caestus, but also grab a straight sword and put Hollow enchant on it to represent the dumb P/Luck sword he gets. You'll have a really rough time if you go with just fist weapons.

How do I set up a proper fight club? I'm SL 110 and there's plenty of soapstone on the ground next to Pontiff. I'm able to summon two phantoms with the finger but no more than that. I hate having to make my fight club champion wait 30 seconds for the next opponent to show up, is there no way to summon more phantoms, or make myself an easier target for invasions?

It only stuns for two hits, but people spam it and the window to roll away is really short, and you need to roll directly away from them because of its retarded rectangular hitbox. A weapon with hyper armor or just spacing well destroys spammers. However, an estoc with a great shield is nigh unbeatable with doing it yourself because of how good great shields are in this game.

Even at 3v1 being invaded builds tension because you have one more factor to ponder when exploring.
Usually I die when invading but yesterday I kited both phantoms and they were so sure to rape me that they didn't pay much attention. I turned around, put on some fast resin and killed them in two R1 swing of my refined murakumo. The host was caught off guard picking up an item and I killed him in 3 secs.

I'm having the time of my life as an Aldrich Faithful. Constant invasions. I have over 90 kills in the last two days.
I actually didnt want to progress thru more of the game because i didnt want to level out of this sweet spot. Lvl 60 and +6 weapon. Created a new character that I'm going to devote to pvping with these specs.

If you can hit 5-6 enemies where I can hit 2-3 enemies for 200 DMG each you're doing 1000-1200 where I'm stuck with 400-600 damage. Grape invading is fun because instead of the host being your target, you have a quota to fill. It's not a massive difference, but it's enough to be fresh and fun.
You know what though, some people can be pretty cool. I was on the bridge in Farron and I was invading this guy with his two friends. Host stood back and I had 1 on 1s with his two friends over and over. I was on a win streak and every time he'd summon them back and they'd wait their turn. At the end one of them gave me applause. Felt good.

Five times 200 is 1000, six times 200 is 1200. If you funnel and aggro enemies properly you can get hits like that, period. Any longsword in the game only has range for the two or three most immediate enemies in front, period. A greatsword has greater potential damage, period. A greatsword gives you a range advantage, period. A greatsword knocks the shit out of shielded users. Level your fucking endurance and quit griping like a bitch for your shitty life decisions.

The reason that area is a PvP clustefuck is because it's one of the few places where the host won't have 2 phantom goons helping them, and everyone knows it.
That's in addition to the Aldrich Faithful and Farron Watchdog covenants actually working decent in that it actually summons you to random worlds instead of literally having a bias to put you up against three fucking guys.

Well, it just depends. Some of them are so slow that the aggressive and suspiciously high poise regular enemies are righteous pains, not to mention bosses, even if their damage is good per hit.
In PVP good players will never get hit by a slow weapon. Fast is almost always better. Only thing better than fast is "unpredictable", which is rare.
Though some of the larger weapons are actually pretty fast on their swings, which can be nice. Fume used to be freakishly fast for the damage it did, before the nerf, and it still is surprisingly fast for such a fuck huge weapon.

If they have their shield up, you can feel free to just bash through it, if they attack you just soak it up and trade.
Only thing I have consistent trouble with is guys with greatshields and spears because I can't get through their guard while they whittle me down.

Kill a few enemies and the host tends to trust me. Sometimes a Red will do some gestures to imply we should team up. Hell, even when I accidentally hit people they're pretty understanding as long as I've been fighting alongside them for a while. And your comparison to CS is terrible, 1.6 is obsolete because as a multiplayer game it depends on constant patching and an active community, not to mention how identical it is to CS:GO (differently from, say, SC1 -> SC2 which has a space for both). While Souls games do have an important MP component they are at their core singleplayer experiences and every single title has that intact. There is absolutely no reason to skip a title.

Probably the biggest pussy I've ever seen in a souls game. This entire encounter took about 20 minutes, he just would not, under any circumstances, move past the bonfire. Each enemy took five minutes for him to fight past. Checked his profile afterwards, over 100 hours in both DaS1 and 2.

I love it! Also, why are people complaining that Ultra Greatswords suck? My Astora Greatsword has 550 AR at 40/40 and with Leo ring I do about 900 damage with the R2 thrust attacks when counter hitting.
Poise is decent this time around, since it's based on hyper armor. That means your poise activates when in a weapon animation. I think it multiplies your poise depending on your weapon type. For example when you use a longsword you will get staggered when hit, usually no matter what. But when you use an Ultra weapon, nothing (and I mean absolutely nothing) can poise break you when you are swinging the damn thing.
It just got to the point where if the faggot summons 3 fuckers I just wait at a guaranteed shit-hits-the-fan spot and rain murder on their faggot asses.

1.6 to Go is what Dota 1 is to Dota 2. They are different games but they are super similar. I made the comparison with SC because while that is also a MP focused game BW is drastically different from SC2 with many different units and a very different engine. Don't act retarded, Souls is nothing like CS or Dota in terms of sequels.
DaS1 and 3 will seem similar because of how much 3 takes from 1 but their worlds are very different and every encounter is different. DaS2, DeS and BB are super different. It's why using the Guts Greatsword is still difficult for me; "fastest weapon wins" is in effect because if they know how to fight they can always slap me before I can do any swings.

Because people enjoy what's popular. There's no drawback to bandwagoning here. DS3 gets better sales, there's more people to play with. If developers expected any new audience to go back and play their first games, first, they wouldn't put as much money into their new titles because the sales wouldn't be there. It might be down the road, but they're trying to recoup their costs and make a huge profit during the first two weeks to a month.
DS1, 2, and 3 are all great games with differences, but they are similar enough in the core gameplay that new players aren't going to care to go back to the original. If the story was more important, I'd see it. You'd be dumb as fuck jumping in halfway through the MGS series. But this isn't MGS, or any other story-heavy game. It's basically a dungeon crawler with PVP. Of course people are buying the new, highly-populated one.

I was dropping red soapstone for a solid 2 hours yesterday and won roughly 80%+ of duels, only some close. I'm using Dragon Crest Shield I think and a Lothric Knight Sword +6 along with some pyro pokes. If I get a heavy weapon enemy, I just roll through their bullshit and hit them during recovery, if I get a parry spaz I just bait out the panic parry then hit during recovery. I don't estus unless the host bitches out and does it first.
If you summon me for a duel and drink all your estus in front of me before the fight starts I will do the same and it will be a grouse fight.

Yeah i used them for a bit, if you l2(parry) then r2(strong attack) you do 6 attacks which is pretty cool, problem is they dont do much damage compared to other weapons.
Refined Gotthard Twinswords+9 with 40str 40dex does 370dmg, and sadly with the twin attacks it seems the damage is slightly lower than what it displays. Works good with a buff though, does the correct damage.

Disconnecting should immediately cut you off from any multiplayer interaction. You have the way of white thing to restore the link once, but if you do it again you're out for good.

Only for a day or two. Accidental disconnects -do- happen, sometimes even on very strong networks that the owner has spent quite a bit of money on. For instance, if you have Charter. Their shit goes out at least once a month, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Bloodlust is somewhat shit, to be honest. Scaling only goes up to A, instead of the Chaos Blade's S, and the weapon art buff is somewhat shit and doesn't allow you to parry with it 2handed.
And from what I've seen, yes, they are. I haven't bothered looking at most weapon tables yet, but scaling seems pretty shitty for anything but katanas.

I like the idea of the host seeing me kill his butt buddies within 10 seconds, then me coming for him. I also like the host to get a laugh when I kill foolish invaders that aren't part of Aldrich. The best is when the host runs off to summon more phantoms, then I wait to kill the host as the phantoms appear. Also, its entertaining as fuck when the host thinks turning the enemies on me is going to stop me. I then go around killing all the enemies then I kill the host. Out of over 100 hosts, not including the phantoms, I've probably died about 4 times.

sounds like it's a reoccuring thing. Been reading and many people are having problems. especially Darkmoon and Watchdogs. I read something about some placers are essentially placed in a bench and all the players that are getting summoned are being requeued. heard about how people having the same setup getting completely different results, some get nonstop summons, while some get none like most of us. You're assuming they are standing in mobs that have already been cleared, they stand in paths I'm not even bothered with and I just keep going the way I want. Then I notice them coming up from behind shooting arrows so I give them a few swipes until they run their baby ass back to the closest mob pack and sit there chugging away. Then I just keep going.
