Equip Lothric knight shield. It has good lighting resistance. Don't rely on the shield too much though. Nameless king eats your stamina heavily with every hit

Just finished the game, it is indeed the hardest boss. Just roll and get his timings right, you will be able to riposte him if you manage to get a few hits (not a combo, just hiting once after dodging) in a short amount of time, like a minute or two

The huge meatcleaver is actually quite good here. It's fast enough for you to get a few hits of and it's heavy enough to do a decent portion of damage.

If you want to be safe, just keep dodging and blocking with the Lothric Knight Shield(for lightning resistance and stability) until he does that one move where he goes straight into the sky and lunges towards you. That's where you can hit him like 3 times after you dodge forward. All the other times you should only hit him once. This boss is all about patience for openings because the fucker never stops attacking.

Im currently doing a pyromancy run. I'm 6 hours in and already killed the Dancer first try. Great Chaos Orb is so fucking powerful. I thought it would be a challenging run but nope. Old Demon King was the only annoying one because I just had to poison him and use Boulder Heave to get around his fire resistance.

You can use Dragonslayer Armour's greatshield if you are a str-fag and want to block him.
If you stay close he will mainly attack fast, dodge 3 times right after each other and you can punish his combo.
His charge attacks require you to learn the timings so pay close attention, maybe count in your head.
If you stagger him, you can hit him up to 4 times while he charges his powerup move. He will follow that up with a lightning strike, dodge and punish him gain. If your damage is high enough you should stahher him again and finish him off.

I think early game nothing will have a lot of dmg anyways. You can get weapons which do not rely on scaling and infuse them or buff them after infusing them plus buff yourself and have like 500 AR before even killing abyss watchers. I doubt any kind of pyro would be doing even half as much dmg back then. To get the good pyro spells you have to go into the lava area anyways. It is all a bunch of ifs and whats and most people will probably miss the whole area anyways unless they look it up.
From my experience the other guy is actually correct, melee does shitloads of more dmg compared to anything ranged. I tried out 50/50 and checked all pyro/miracles and sorceries with the 20% more dmg rings and the results were laughable. A single axe swing does the same dmg but is faster and hits in a wide arc unlike some spells. Also you do not run out of stamina but FP is limited. While you cast 2 spells you can swing 4+ times easily which results in something like 3800 dmg vs 2000 dmg and thats if you have both builds very optimized. I think you are just wrong.

Pyromancy does revolve around use of Great Chaos Fire Orb so if you miss that then it will be bad.

Chaos Bed Vestiges is complete shit for the reason you mentioned earlier, limited FP. It doesn't work much better at all.
For the FP use, GCFO does FAR more damage than CBV, not to mention the wasted damage potential against single targets, sure this goes for every pyromancy spell but not as badly as CBV which is pretty much designed to be an AoE nuke.
And it shits on everything I'm pretty sure simply due to the lava damage, I'm certain if it didn't have that it would be shit. When you hit mobs with the initial and then lava damage it often one shots them or leaves them with a sliver.

If you want to stick with the UGS, then you really need to conserve stamina, and lighten your load: you want the full roll for this fight, believe me.
Alternatively, since you're running a strength build, you can make a heavy broadsword\longsword +10 (whichever you prefer, I recommend the broadsword for better strength scaling) and better armour while still having the full roll.
Whatever you pick, I recommend putting the glass crest shield on your back, and using rolls for the entire fight. Learn to dodge every phase SoC uses, except for the Scimitar phase. At that point, back way to avoid being stun locked and wait him out until the next phase shift.
It takes some doing, but you can get it done. Excpet for that five-hit Greatsword combo he does in the second half of the fight, fuck that bullshit.

This guy is the hardest boss in the game by far. It took me 10 tries while none of the others took me more than 4 tries.
Just keep playing and you'll learn to dodge all of his attacks. If you get hit even once you're kind of fucked because his recovery is shorter than it takes to drink an estus unless you get lucky.

I would fight him by myself if you can skip the first phase, but that phase is the equivalent of taking a long ass route to the boss, just for you to get there so he can kill you with some stupid shit. Honestly, he's not as difficult as people make him out to be, he's just gimmicky.

It's literally the best non-magic weapon in the game. High dex/str chars slap on refinement on it, and get B/B scalling (Which is better then the A scaling from Heavy) The only thing shitty about it is it's weapon art.

Does the duration of it's weapon art last that long? It isn't really descriptive so I really wasn't sure if it was juse a short buff or if it lasts long enough to be viable. So I kept using my upgraded broadsword rather than upgrading a dark sword
I always look up guides for these cryptic games. I'm not some autist who is going to memorize item locations and do multiple play through. The levels are purposefully frustrating labyrinths and the items are so important so it's best to have a little help. I summon if I find a boss difficult, because fuck it, I'm not trying the same boss more than 5-6 times.

the dreak sword is an early game weapon that helps noobs get through the first bosses but gets shit later so they fall flat on their nose.
I'm giving up, I genuinely can't do this, all the other bosses have been fun but this one is just not. The camera is abhorrent, it only suits people using fast weaponry, the only redeeming quality of this fight is that it's optional.

The player attitude is completely different. In DeS people didn't see invaders as an asshole here to ruin their Gaming Experience ™ and fuck their grandma in the anus. Sure some invaders literally were trying to do that but it wasn't the immediate assumed stance that called for summoning 8 phantoms, raping one guy then taunting and posting on 4chan like you have the moral high ground.
Invasions where just an extra guy trying to kill you but he wasn't as easy to kill back as the NPC are.

If you kill him before he gives you the key for the lift to the darkwraith with the unlimited orb you will cripple your invading a lot.
You will also lock yourself out of some items and one of the easiest questlines.
