It ebbs and flows. There's some good parts in there, and some good old fashioned engrish and botched translations as well.
The female always gets called a male as well with the plot obviously being build around the MC being the male avatar, but it usually comes up so rarely that it's not too much of a big deal (and it ends up making Ami a lesbian anyway so it all works out).

It's alright...until that fight that requires you to have a water elemental Digimon. After that, you're probably going to find yourself grinding for hours in level three star mission areas.
There's one particular area that gives 800-1000 experience. I spent over twelve hours evolving then devolving, just for abilities, before turning them into the final tier.
The problem is most of the game is fetch quests and bullshit Japanese mythology.

Massive fan of DW3. At the last chapter of Cyber Sleuth now.
As far as I can tell, Cyber Sleuth has the better story and battle system, the latter of which relies on two different but co-existing paper-rock-scissors systems. DW3's story was good but perhaps played second fiddle to its admittedly great world exploration. Cyber Sleuth's "world" is a series of dungeons connected to a few relatively small real-world locations. It's a very different feel but it suits the story.
DW3's digivolving works more like the anime with a single Digimon acting as a base. Most people will stick with the same three Digimon that they started with in DW3, building up a connection between you and your partners. Meanwhile, Cyber Sleuth pushes you to not only switch up your partners, but digivolve and de-digivolve them into new forms. That any Digimon can become any other Digimon means that your partners don't feel as unique. Still, this digivolution method is a fresh take on the series' mainstay so I'm not complaining.
Not sure about it, but I think Cyber Sleuth has more playable Digimon whilst DW3 has more enemy Digimon.
