im currently at nameless king and while he may be the hardest boss (maybe) pontiff did give me some trouble compared to all the others. But once i figured out the problem he was way easier; basically he's designed to punish you if you try to back off and chug, which is a natural reaction to getting heavily damaged. Once i stopped trying to back off I took him down easy. Also understanding that when he has his clone up it's ez mode.

i beat this boss on the first try, but i had one phantom with me and i had phantomed for somebody else beforehand so i knew what to expect. he wasn't all that hard if you know how to roll. i think the only boss that i really had trouble with was the lord of cinder, i died on him like 10 times before i got him solo.

I found his second half a lot easier then his first, he becomes less sporatic, and has a lot more wind up attacks. even past that once you kill the phantom its easy.
The problem was getting there, I 2hand a hammer, grass crest on back, had to sub down and bring out a shield.

To be honest, it took me at least a dozen tries but then I tried parrying and was more careful when the boss spawns his shadow and followed the latter's movement to predict the former. The fight is not that hard.
Also stick to the right of boss to dodge the attack.

Are you retarded? In Yhorns boss room there's a very clear and visable item at the end of the room, did you never think to pick it up and find out what it was? It must have seemed odd to see an item in a boss area, surely.
Anyway, the long and short of it is; you need to pick up that item (It's a weapon) and then use it to beat Yhorn. Weapon art is required to damage and you MUST wait until it starts glowing before attacking. Don't expect a good fight however. It's VERY easy

You all need to stop using shields and learn to fucking roll. Pontiff is an easy fight, all you have to do is hit the clone as he's summoning it, you'll do like over half the clones hp, if not even kill it there and then. Not to mention a lot of damage to pontiff itself.

Armor is pretty useful on certain bosses. It can be the difference between a one hit kill and a two hit kill, which gives you enough time to get away and estus back up. I use it in the Lothric video, for instance. I don't think I bothered with Pontiff, since he's fairly easy to dodge.

If by arbitrary restriction you meant me not using a shield, that was meant as a tip. People rely too much on shields when dodging a hit is much easier, doesn't eat all your stamina and doesn't run the risk of you getting staggered then decimated.

Yeah, sure, it's not dealing a lot more damage, but it was still better when I was SL30. I've done a STR and DEX run after my first Longsword run, and despite the longsword being very viable PvE, there are a lot of weapons that are better. I'm usually a huge shitter in the souls series, I managed to do DeS solo, mainly because I was rarely human. However, for DaS and DaS2 I summoned help for almost every bossfight.
For DaS3 I jsut beat Aldrich and I've done all content solo and no boss has taken more than 3 tries, solo. I am using a lothric knight sword though which is apparently OP.
