What is it like to understand Japanese and play Japanese video games?

Like any other game but with a bigger library and having a dictionary by you at all times.
Oddly liberating and restrictive at the same time because you take two minutes to read 2 seconds worth or text.
Like being able to understand English and playing English video games
Yoy play video games earlier but then have to deal with glitches and changed stories in the later released international edition.
Nobody actually knows Japanese. They just become very good at guessing the meaning behind the runes. Even the Japanese don't know for sure what they're saying.
I did AJATT audio only since early 2011. Now I can watch anime un-subbed but I can't read or write Japanese. Am I an idiort or not?

Why would you not learn how to read it?

It's like being a video game god tbqhwyfam

Fuck kanji, I ain't frying my brain on that shet~
I do know the kanas though so if there's furigana I'm safe.

I kinda feel like this tbqh, I know a lot of Japanese people who disagree over the meanings of a lot of symbols and that meaning is often quite different.

>implying you can learn vocab without kanji

Only being able to read hiragana is a huge pain in the ass it fucks with the entire flow of reading and sometimes you won't get the correct meaning because you need the Kanji to differentiate homophones unless you can guess it from the context
It's pretty good. Out of all the things I've spent any time learning, I'd say Japanese was by far the best and most useful.
It's also very easy. I put in less than an hour of work a day for a couple of years. Were there days I didn't feel like doing it? Sure. But the benefits vastly outweigh the negatives.
