Because you actually play as a SWAT team with rules, you can't just kill everyone. You need to confiscate and secure evidence, and make sure hostages are safe, the only bad thing about this is if one hostage dies, everything gets called off.

Or well, you can continue, but the mission will fail regardless at that point.

I'd played SWAT 4 before Spoony's LP.

But it's interesting to see Good Spoony switch to Shitty Spoony mid-playthrough.

Like the first few episodes are great and then it just devolves into YOU'RE IN MY WAY SIR circlejerking.

Nothing feels better than mastering the command system.

The sniper system is pretty cool too, I don't remember if you get a penalty for shooting an armed suspect with one of them though. Since normally they need to take aim for you to be justified in shooting them.

The team position themselves in dumb ways when breaching most of the times and they're take ten fucking years before they throw the stinger/bang/gas
Like sometimes they'll go one guy on the left of the door and one guy on the right but the door has the hinge on the left so the moment the breaching nigger on the right blasts the the lock or opens the door and the nigger on the left who's suppose to throw the explosives gets blasted by the niggers inside the room the moment the door opens.
Or how they take like 5 seconds after they shout FREEZE before shooting suspects that don't comply.

If you see that there are suspects near the door in inconvenient places you're better off using C4 so you can do it from a distance, and then flashbang/gas it yourself.

It'll never count as unauthorized use of (deadly) force, but in the long run it'll cost you points for not zipcuffing the guys outright. You can't 100/100 a mission like that.

Only annoyance was commanding a team further away using the headcam, but once coordinated, sweet.
Regarding the sniper I also don't remember but they were very useful when a criminal was standing too close to/behind the hostage, you could take him out a moment before breaching.
I wish grenade throwing was quicker, the delay between door opening/c4 and actual grenade throwing sometimes meant the hostage was a goner, basically >>334807134.
You could always prepare a grenade yourself and have them just breach but still.

No, too gamey is unrealistically exploiting game mechanics.

If you have to shoot, shoot center to neutralize the threat. LTL and OC are always options, as are stingers and flashes prior to entry. Shooting means you've fucked up, but even if you fuck up you still have to resolve the situation.

I can understand how it works in real life, but when you put it in a game having enemies that can ignore some game mechanics with no clear indication that they can is bad game design.
Usually enemies that are immune to stuff in games are clearly different from regular enemies.
