Because they do not and will not play Morrowind, but want to experience Morrowind anyway. Morrowind fans are excited for OpenMW and Morrowind mods, while everyone else is excited for things like Skywind. It's not surprising given that more people have played Skyrim than the combined number of players of any of the previous games.
