This is easily the cast with the least amount of variety in the entire series, and the re-release of FFIX with its party of crazy oddballs only highlights how jarring it is.

Everyone complaining about the design choices and actually saying FFXIII was better in that aspect fucking piss me off to no end. FFXIII's designs were so over the top and sci-fi that even the summons and other recurring FF elements were in name only and hardly felt like a FF game, especially with the lack of exploration. But all the designs for FFXV are based on classic FF enemy and creature designs and actually look organic and grounded.
Besides, the whole road tripping and camping is simply a different take on the exploration of older games where you'd stop at an inn or village. The fact that there's a world to explore and actual towns and cities and sidequests, all that alone makes me happy.

This isn't a live-action movie. It's a CGI movie. There's no excuse not to have CGI movie models look the same as CGI game models. Even anime FFXV has characters looking similar to their game counterpart. The whole thing just seems so hollow and blatant. If they feel so insecure about Luna, why not change her completely? I don't care if it's Tabata or Nomura or who the fuck. Tabata is the director now so he bears the responsibility.
