Yes but if you don't move during your roll, you're much more vulnerable. That's why pinning people into a wall is so useful. The frames are mostly at the start of the roll. The ring tacks more onto the end. It makes the roll way safer.

Don't panic and drink estus, with 9 chugs I got both items on both pools without dying, but you can make it to any item with under 4 chugs easy.
