I bought this piece about 6 months ago when it was $10. I've only played it twice (multi vs bots and PVP). Why? I keep fucking losing. Archaic UI, too hard. Do I just suck?

If you want to get good at 1v1, better learn some openers (eg: reaper expand for Terran), and build lots of workers. Then ladder.

Well Heart of the Swam ladder is dead, so if you feel like you want to ladder 1v1 or play teamgames with friends in LOTV, then I'd say it's worth it. Not worth it just for the campaign though.
Faster start (12 starting workers instead of 6) makes games start much faster, it's nice.
