Even with animated loading screens, games can still crash in the middle of the loading screen.
I remembered playing a game which had a loading bar and it was up at a certain amount, and stayed there. Waited about 30 minites and nothing, still stayed in the same spot even though the loading animation was still runing. Literally a failed to load crash I call it.
