I thought the ending was bad and just left a lot of things up to our imagination, such as how the hell they were able to convince step-fucker about the teacher being a psycho and how they managed to pin it on him at all without Chloe dying.
Let Chloe live at the end, "do it for her" or not, because Max would have felt pretty fucking stupid if she woke up a week later and the tornado was still there.

Most of /v/ hates it, or at least the vocal part of /v/, but it was one of my favourite games last year. Going back the third time, I kinda see some of the complaints against Chloe, but not really. The last episode is kid of boring the third time through though, and the ending really sucks. Not ME3 bad, but definitely annoying. I wish they would continue with the character, if only for Burch's fantastic acting, but I'll still look at Season 2 regardless.

It defies reason how anyone thought it was good. Even telltale games are better, and you really have to be trying to be worse than them.
I want Chloe's death to be canon. She is one of the most annoying video game characters I've ever witnessed. She just never stopped being a whiny cunt who pretended the world was out to get her, no matter the shit that Max was going through. I loved the gameplay. You might love action games, that's fine, I enjoy a few myself, but not every game has to be an action game. The exploritive nature really reminded me of playing the original Legend of Zelda as a kid. Just wanting to see everything. I'll agree that the gameplay in the last episode was minimal, but I very much enjoyed the puzzle sections towards the end.

How can the level design be nonexistent? Are you saying there just weren't levels? That's asinine. I really liked the level design. Each area was fairly open, but I always knew which way to go.

The game is set in southern Oregon in late 2013. I know many people that lived around there at that time, and I myself visited there in summer 2014. Call it cringey, call it "hip," call it whatever, it was accurate. That is how those characters would've really talked. And in a game that tries to be relateable, they can't present obviously fake, anachronistic or misplaced characters. As for the characters, I loved them, but it would be hard for you to grow attached like I did, since you clearly went in so negative in the first place.

It fell into the same trap that most time travel stories do. The fix always invalidates everything that happened.
Being able to (within reason) instantly go back and completely change any single decision you make for the sake of convenience is a horrible design decision because it remove an already sort of "this isn't a video game this is a talking game" that Telltale games already get some flak for. When you remove all illusion of choice to begin with you're left with complete nothing.
Time bullshit usually takes someone out of the action in a GOOD story let alone one like this were every alternate reality or thread to follow had zero fucking impact at any point at all. The fact that there is a scene that is literally "I can't believe I've followed my dreams haha what a nice gallery OH DARN IT FORGOT ABOUT A TIME TORNADO BETTER FIX THIS" is horrible.
So it's a very lacking in player interaction (which doesn't have to make or break a game I guess) and the story is just dumb.
So you've got the characters.
Max is as whitebread as you can get so whatever. The rest of the cast all comes and goes and they're more or less ranging from passable to fucking retarded. The few moments of Max interacting with literally anyone who isn't Chloe were the only remotely not horrible parts of the game and by large they're never the main focus.
It's hard to say if Chloe is a bad character or just a bad person because at a certain point I don't want to let my hate for a character's personality say that makes a bad character in of itself. But I never found her relationship with Max any different from any coming of age teen movie friendship/romance ever and that's without her being a complete shitface.
This is completely unfounded but you give Chloe a penis and /LiSG/ would fucking die because instead of lesbian waifu shitposting it'd be Max hanging out with her shitty Boyfriend who NOBODY would like.

Hallways with everything you can interact with clearly labelled is not 'exploring'. The game could just read all the side things for you rather than making you walk from cutscene to cutscene and all you'd miss out on is a little stick tilting. Your input hardly matters.
I never said there weren't levels. I just don't consider, like I said before, a bunch of hallways that clearly mark what you can interact with good level design.

It started off pretty solid but they kind of screwed up with the ending. The nightmare sequence was pretty rad as you got to see what was possibly the fabric of reality torn and skewed from your powers. But after that, things just sort of end with a lackluster "pick the real ending or run away with your shit waifu." I was really hoping that the ending would be really fucked up and you would have to rewind back to the beginning of the game in order to try to fix things
If there's ever a sequel I'd like to see Max living through the alternate school week in which she let Chloe die. I don't know what they'd have to do with that to make it good, but I'd like to see your choices throughout the entire game have an effect on the ending.
