why did this game fail
>>334748385
Hybrid real time and turn based action is pointless and frustrating if you can't dodge attacks reliably and the game had maybe 12 hours of content spread out over 80 hours of game. Also it took like 20 hours for all the mechanics to be introduced making it seem like a 20 hour tutorial.
So gameplay and pacing. The usual JRPG problems.
>>334748385
Given that it's getting a sequel, it didn't
>>334748385
It has a very similar problem as Skies of Arcadia. Everything around the game is really nice, like the visuals and concepts. The gameplay, as in the combat, is atrocious though. NI No Kuni has brokenly stupid AI partners, the leveling up/evolving system is retarded, and the actual fighting mechanics are just pretty shit in general.

>A sucessful game is defined by the money earned
We live i a sad time where games are only appreciated if they sell well and have muh graphics.
One of the worst battle systems ever devised
>>334750108
Really? Don't you dare to play with my heart anon.
>>334749554
I really liked the game, but I have to agree with this anon.
Also, this fucker made the game 100 times easier

Did you miss all the girl(boy) posters?
>>334751991
Forgot pic
Because it was shit.
this is what is called a prejudice question.
because you provided no proof that the game failed, yet you ask as if it's a known fact.

I'm still buying the Sequel
It's getting a sequel and I'm excited if they can make the story meaningful again. NNK stands out as one of my favorite games of last gen, but as others have said, the pacing was molasses slow in some places, especially near the end when you're just ready to be done.
>>334752021
I'm playing it for the first time and i'm having a blast.
This game was super charming and fun but the mechanics were too much once I got through the desert. I forgot about it after I dropped it.
>>334748385
>studio ghibli
>joe hisaishi ost
>charming cast and familiars
>grand JRPG story that we don't get enough of these days
>whole wizard's companion and alchemy mechanic
I didn't mind the gameplay during my playthrough but NNK really is a wonderful game.
Very excited for the sequel and if it improves the AI/combat it's already a masterpiece.
>>334748385
implying it failed
>>334748385
There wasn't very good marketing, I barely heard about the game, even on /v/
>>334753360
The sequel might be even better now that they have established world to work with
DS version is superior.
>>334755649
of course not. it's a children's game, and /v/ is a mature board.
>>334752110
Easier is putting it mildly. He could steamroll you right through the bonus boss.
>>334751557
>there are people who like games with poor sales so companies won't make any saquel that also have shit graphics, otherwise they are not fun.
>>334748385
no way to 2 hand that sword
I hope they'll remaster it for the ps4 and use the touchpad as a way to manually draw the spells.
I liked it.
>Game makes it seem like it will have a tons of different abilities that let you creatively interact with the world
>You're pretty much told exactly how and when to use the mall, leaving the whole game as a Simon Says toys like experience
>>334752620
wasn't everything after Shadar basically just tacked on? pretty sure the original game on the DS ends after that.
>>334748385
it wasn't pokemon
Only real issue I had was the shitty partner AI. Also, that Dark Wizard guy had a much better storyline/boss fight then the White Witch.
The only thing I did at boss fights was spam Olivers strongest spell he had at the time.
did I do it right?
>>334748385
babbys first rpg
Retarded AI
Because it was on the ps4 which doesn't market to the kind of people who play rpgs
shit party AI but it's not that much of a nuisance by the mid point you get strong enough to tank any shit
>>334765129
What was on the PS4?

The game needed some serious balancing, I finished it by using Oliver only and never touched any other party member
it sold more copies than dark souls 2 on the ps3.
