There's some previews of the first 20 minutes of 2 if you want to watch them, but I haven't because of spoilers.
What is the first game like and is it actually worth anything? The only time I heard of it was that hilariously awful "Humble" "Bundle" a couple years back where you had to pay $15 to get one (1) game

However as time passed:

In the end I found myself playing through it several times, eventually on hard as well. There is a certain strategy which you can use to force the enemies into making certain moves.

It's a turn based game so if you don't like those in general you can turn back immediately. The combat has you take turns with your enemy where it's always in the order of you-them-you-them until only one of you or them remains. This means it's best to weaken enemies strength (doubles as both health and damage output) than to kill them since they'll get more turns per unit if you do so.
Outside of combat it's best described as Oregon trail with vikings. You have to manage the supplies of a large caravan and you can get them killed in various ways. You can also get your party members killed regularly, which can fuck you over hard.
