Nah, I get the appeal.
It's pretty open ended, movement in the game is pretty cool too. You can play it on modern style maps and on Arena Shooter type of maps but at the same time it's more grounded than say a Quake which is full on rocketjumping around the map.
There's no buying weapons, it's just pick your weapon and jump in. Bunch of maps in it too.
This is more like a happy medium, kind of like UT but I never really played that so I can't speak on it.
