Big guy is Lorian, the Elder Prince of Lothric, one of the (three?) children of (Oceiros?), along with Lothric, Ocelotte (and maybe the Heavenly Daughter?). He apparently fought some powerful demon before and the curse it bestowed upon him left him crippled and mute. He became (or always was) his brother's shield afterward. Originally, he was to also use a shield (cut item from the game).
Small guy is Lothric, the Younger Prince of... Lothric. He was supposed to be a Lord of Cinder, but refused to do so, probably because of the guys in the Grand Archives. He's pretty much bedridden and has to use his brother to survive, but he can also cast miracles and resurrect his brother. The robe you see him in, he wore it his entire life. Originally, he was supposed to have a scythe forged for him personally (cut item from the game).

nameless king is actually fucking awfully (or brilliantly) designed in that the first phase of the fight you need to roll later than expected, and in the main portion you need to roll earlier than expected.
so in one fight you're conditioned two things, which makes doing the entire fight harder.
the hardest boss isall the 3v1 gank squads. you know who you are, scumbags.

yeah that's shit as well, in the first phase you can't roll toward the boss as you can and should with all the other bosses.
a nice touch tho is that the bird only makes noises when it's gonna attack, so unless the bird makes a noise then it's king attacking.

I like to put down my summon signs for this fight and then check out whomever summoned me's profile. Since I play on PS4 and did not like Bloodborne at all, if I notice they've played BB then I wait until they engage the boss and then black crystal out so they have to fight a harder boss but alone. I do this with a lot of other bosses too.

Nah you just need to get lucky so the bird will do her breathing attack 2-3 times and you won't waste too much estus on that phase.
I like the second phase more, but overall boss is one of the most interesting in the whole franchise.
