I got a hold of Microsoft support and told them my nonexistent save file corrupted and my unlocks never popped. They gave me every single weapon and character skin from the beta and a few extra codes for my buddy. I doubt Microsoft will be that cool this time.

Ok, I'm exagertaing a little bit, but it's reusing the majority of the player animations, weapon models, and sound effects from the previous games. It wasn't exactly my cup of tea, but halo 5 at least held my interest for a while because of how many changes they implemented bringing the series to the xbone. If this game appeases Gears fans, that's fine, but I don't see anything new or interesting for someone like myself with only a moderate interest in the series.

The only complaint that press reviews have had about the early access the beta is that the game doesn't look like a huge leap forward for the series visually. Apparently it looks like a really really really good xbox 360 game and a lot of the graphical assets look aged.
Personally I love this news because I tend to find when visuals don't take priority, the game play flourishes.
The game looks exactly the same as Gears 3. The series plateaued with the second game and hasn't really improved since then. Horde was a bit better in 3, but not enough compared to other games.

We have an update for everyone.
Microsoft Operations had an issue this morning with their code drop and unfortunately the codes will not be distributed in chronological order as originally messaged. We will be doing another code drop this evening to help address some of the issues. As noted before, codes will be going out in waves as we ramp up our servers through the beta.
Starting tomorrow morning (pacific time), we will be sending out a higher volume of codes to help compensate for this change and due to server stability seen during Day 1 of our beta.
This change and volume will carry on through Wednesday and Thursday morning (pacific time) which will cover off on everyone for early access.
We apologize for the confusion during this process and we are looking forward to seeing everyone in-game during the beta.
