Neo /v/ hates it
/v/ thinks they're great tier wRPGs that both beat FO3/4 but still prefers New Vegas

Please don't imply that any FOnline is true to the source material.

I really liked the originals. But I feel like I'm one of the very few who preferred 1 over 2. One was just so perfect. It did exactly what it wanted to do and executed it without the filler two had. But they were both great.
>>
underrail > fallout shit

always hated how easy it was to become overpowered in those games

you could drown in money from playing in the casinoes

Fallout 1 had the best lore and world building, but suffered from short length, glitches, and possibly the most broken and imbalanced combat. Fallout 2 had the best roleplaying aspects when it comes to player freedom and dialogue while fixing glitches and issues from 1, but suffered from a theme park overworld and sillier writing like talking Deathclaws, alien technology (admittedly one could argue that the psychic nullifiers in 1 are alien), ghosts, and Saturday Morning Cartoon villainy. Both of them are what I consider among some of the finest cRPG experiences, definitely top ten post-apocalyptic games material along with IHNMaIMS, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and The Age of Decadence.

FOnline2 was okay.
Though the whole turn-based thing made it too easy for douchebags to trap noobs.
>>
>>334647108
>underrail
>better than fallout
Nope. The sound design and music in Underrail is soul-crushingly forgettable, and the story is fucking dogshit compared to classic Fallout. This isn't to say that Underrail is a bad game (on the contrary), but it completely lacks the charm of Fallout 1 and 2.

The New Vegas strip wasn't even finished thanks to Bethesda.

It's funny how the one game that was supposed to be Obsidian's magnum opus, the CRPG they always dreamed of making free from the shackles of publishers, ended up also being cut to shit.
>>
>>334647405
Turnbased in FOnlines is almost always garbage. Ashes of Phoenix resets in about five days, and from the way things are looking, it's going to be an interesting wipe cycle.
I won't lie, I'm actually on the dev team.
We're going to get overloaded by slavs on the 23rd, it's honestly a coinflip on whether or not the server will shit itself, going to be a lot of fun.

The only way to win is really to avoid all FOnlines, though. Even this one.

2 is one of my favorite games ever

2 > NV > 1 > 4 > 3
>>
>>334645163
Fallout 1 is short but sweet

Fallout 2 is meme trash, Goes from a villain that is interesting because it is unique to that setting to the "da guvbermend is ebil :DDDD"
>>
>>334648075
I did pretty good before 2 reset itself and wiped all of my progress
I had a reliable source of income, a fallout shelter and a spunking big gun

Also, who the hell came up with those blueprints for crafting?

Is wasteland worth ir if I like the original fallouts?

It was a relic from the original largest FOnline, 2238.
It is somewhat fun, but the entire community is just an experiment in suffering.

If I had one wish in this world I would wish for a plane ticket so I could go and stab Todd Howard in the throat.

>>334648719
I won't argue that.
I've actively avoided any human contact in game, since I'm convinced everyone wants to kill me and steal my shit.

well its realistic then, isn't it?

Yeah, but it's a lot of fun when you get into a good platoon/faction. It provides a squad-based PvP system with friends that you really can't find anywhere else. It's less relevant in other FOnlines that are based on 1-hexing each other with miniguns and firing rocket launchers are max range.
>>
>>334647895
Well shit. Never knew that. What got cut?
>>
>>334648853
I'd rather wish for a Neverwinter Nights 3 by the old Bioware team with an easy to use toolset

from what I've read. Most of the game got cut. they were trying to make a full triple A game in a year with Bethesda garbage engine.

The problem is quest markers in the new games for me.

I could spend hundreds of hours looking around for the water chip or GECK and get side tracked by every dumb fuck job so I can buy things and not die to random encounters as i actually look for the main quest

The problem with the new games is you're pretty much expected to either do the main quest, or fuck off and do side quests on your own free will, they don't blend together but are really disconnected from one another.
>>
>>334646161
Nah, shit is better than F3.
>>
>>334647356
this is correct
>>
The original fallout games feel more like actual challenging games. Your build, stats, equipment, everything is super important and carries immense weight. Unless you significantly outlevel your opponents firefights require you to pay careful attention and use everything at your disposal. When you beat something tough there's a real sense of accomplishment.

3d fallouts do something different. They're more about being first person walking simulators designed to immerse you in the world. The gameplay is a shallow afterthought. Not bad, but different, and overall an inferior experience.
>>
I've always wanted to try them, but I don't feel like buying or finding any way to play them
>>
>>334649408
the one thing i dont get about fonline is why every character is tied to a single account

so if you fuck up a build you have to make a new account, why not allow people to delete the character and use the same login info?
>>
>>334651448
just pirate the GOG copies and download the unofficial patches

Fuck. I only played through 3 the once with all the DLC on PS3. Never been arsed about a second go.
Currently on my second play through of NV, the first also being on PS3 and this time on PC with all the DLC which I'm saving until I'm more familiar with the game. First play through I only spent about 25 hours on and missed a fuck ton of quests and places.
>>
>>334645163
Played the original Fallout here and there but sat down with the intention of playing it thoroughly a few months back, was really surprised by how much fun I had. Played it a shitload over the course of 2 or so weeks.

Fallout 2 seems great but I burned myself out a little on 1 and 2 is ultimately more of the same so I didn't stick with it for more than 8 or so hours.

Which are Fallout FIXT and Fallout 2 Restoration Project for 1 and 2 respectively.

Recently rerolls have been added to some FOnlines, making it much easier to deal with mistakes. Certain FOnlines require you actually donate real money for that shit though, which is not cool.
I think that AoP and reloaded both offer reloaded using in-game methods, but I might be wrong about reloaded
>>
Fallout 2 was huge and it had lots of mature content, which is cool and all, but everything else about the game killed what made Fallout 1 good and unique
>>
>>334645163
they're infinitely better than the bethesda spinoffs of the series.
>>
I really liked them.

Making Companions necessary but not a burden outside of keeping them supplied with ammo was a lot of fun.

Having legitimate character strengths and weaknesses that actually mattered was refreshing.

The writing was pretty good.

Fallout 1 remains my favourite CRPG of all time.

I really, really did not care for Fallout 2.

We're also talking about DaS III in ten or more separate threads at any given time. Who cares.
