Space Engine
Universe Sandbox
>>334625790
Noctis
Shores of Hazeron
Space Engine
Universe Sandbox
Orbiter
Celestia
>>334626148
>>334625939
>>334628016
Which one of those is a bit more on the sci-fi side with aliens and such?
>>334628991
None
>>334628991
Shores of Hazeron and Noctis both have aliens, although the latter is p low resolution so they're usually hopping squares and shit
shores of hazeron has hilarious monster generation that creates horrific man centipedes and elephant horses
No Man's Sky looks pretty shallow but it'll prolly be worth a pirate and is based on retro sci-fi
>>334628991
Oh you want a game game...
Distant Worlds: Universe always feels very epic and alive to me, but I don't know how well it "captures of the majesty of space".
elite dangerous, but braben is now on full jew mode so beware.
>>334629281
Holy shit I completely forgot about Shores of Hazeron... does it still have a decent playerbase?
I wish so badly I could say Mass Effect. that series was one of the biggest wastes of potential ever.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtS3BRC9MDM
>>334629415
have no idea, haven't played it since it went pay to play
>>334625790
Well it's scifi but Outer Worlds is one of the best games about space I've played.
>mfw going into that fog planet
>>334629362
the majesty of doing the same thing over and over again in a boring and minimal effort universe with mediocre planet generation
>>334629639
completely forgot about that, hope it's finished one day
got blueballed as fuck going to the middle of the tornado planet and finding jack shit
>>334625790
eve online, outer worlds
>>334628016
a lot of these too, fantastic.
The Mass Effect series
>>334629639
>>334629724
>Outer Worlds
it's outer WILDS RRRRREEEEEEEE
>>334629718
They've finally started to make a full version out of it when they got funded through3.3 mans kickstarterSo we'll see whether or not they'll make it.
>>334629871
Sorry man I always mess that up. Dunno why.
Star Control II
>>334625790
Space Engineers.
The clang of the rotors echoes throughout the cosmos.
>>334630116
This guy knows what's up.
>Universe Sandbox gets VR support
One of the reasons I won't kill myself
>>334628991
>What games convey the majesty of space?
>dude its gotta have aliens and shit
Get fucked
>>334630334
>Sound
>In Space
Dropped
Space Station 13
>>334630663
This, my man
>>334625790
Space Channel 5
It conveys the fabulousness of space at least
>>334630759
>i am a retard that doesn't know how sound works
>>334625790
Rodina gets the scale across well
E:D is comfy space trucking and pretty much nothing else in a big ass empty galaxy
Space Engine is like E:D in a better engine with the whole universe to see minus the space trucking
Outer Wilds for the spooks.
Star Conflict for War Thunder in space, not majestic but looks nice and it was fun
EVE Online for the biggest playerbase in a space game, and it's also big.
Spess Engineers if you are creative and not lazy.
Don't know what to think about NMS yet, I'll wait till it's released.
>>334630963
Is this real? I often can't tell if space pictures are actually real or not, because it's not like I have any firsthand experience of it. I have problems wrapping my head around the pillars of creation actually being real, for example.

Yes, it's real. Some effects are just added to the picture to make it more appealing.
>>334631995
Got any more? These images make good wallpapers.
>>334631718
Obviously the photos are enhanced. Do you really think Hubble is capable of taking sexy high-def pictures of disant galaxies? They take shitty, blurry pictures, and project photometric data on them to make an approximation.
>>334632189
Here you go
>>334632189
>>334632189
Another one
Space Station 13 conveys the majesty of spacejust kidding it conveys the majesty of murdering colleagues with blunt objects and throwing them out of an airlock
>>334632189
Another
>>334630759
Considering clang is one of the worst physics glitches in gaming, sound in space is the least of the realism issues.
>>334631718
The nebula itself is real, colors depends of what type of telescope they were using, and most of the time those renderings are enhanced to easily identify the materials composing it.
>>334633084
Thanks man.
>>334632189
The last one for tonight
>>334625790
you can try elite dangerous
You were born too early
You aren't even contributing right now
Your degree is in something irrelevant
You aren't learning how to make the Alcubierre drive a reality
https://youtu.be/6tH9VlF4FiY?list=PLPS5GX2Oe-9tboGnfvsn_HZWlr2og93wr
Why are you even alive?
You may think I'm joking but Kerbal Space Program really does something that truly makes you realize how large it all is.
>You were born too early
>You expect to capitalize on the knowledge of thousands of engineers
>You aren't helping them make the dream come true.
>You will die in the dirt
>You will die, not even sacrificing yourself to push humanity into the beyond
>>334625790
Rodina
>>334633008[honk]
>>334633402
Pls, don't fuck my shit up, senpai.
>tfw we will be around 80 yo, when we will get a first glimpse of space travel.
>>334633402
Anime girls and video games.
>>334633628
>You will die in the dirt
I would hope I'm dead before I'm in the dirt.
Does X3 count?
>>334625790
Spore
Elite Dangerous gives you a pretty good sense of scale, and can get you some very pretty views.
>>334633402
>You were born too early
To see everything get completely rat-fucked?
>>334637709
The fact that most people who study environmental science and ways to fix or slow it down get depression is disconcerting.
>>334637709
>no scale on the y axis
your pic is shit
>>334638750
nigga, there's people out there who deny HIV is what causes AIDS.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HIV/AIDS_denialism
Sometimes they have HIV and have kids and spread it to them.
>>334641443
That's a fringe group, and I don't really see how that relates to my post.
There are people that believe the earth is flat, but so what?
Global warming is the largest single issue mankind has to face in modern times, after the threat of global nuclear war which thankfully seems far off in the current state of affairs.
>>334641906
Okay, so now imagine the AIDS denialists comprise the vocal minority of one of the two major political parties in the most powerful country in the world, such that the party in question not only counts said denialists as actual elected legislators but has to bow to them out of fear of losing that bloc of potential voters and thus losing political power.
>>334637709
Whatever, we'll just extract some Oxygen from all the water we have and fix the concentration of the air so it's again 88% CO2 and 22% Oxygen as before.
>>334637709
just plant some more trees nigga
Spore was a disappointment in so many ways, but the galaxy was not one of them. NAvigating the space phase was amazing.
>you were born too early
>you will never live in an outworld planet wondering whether a planet called Terra actual exist and questioning the origin of mankind.
>>334642802
Underrated comment, earth day is coming up do some good. Or just plant a tree in your video game I don't really give a fuck.
>>334644548
>have the technology to colonize another planet
>don't have the technology to bring some video footage of your home planet with you and encyclopedias of information on humanity
>>334633764
Interstellar space travel is a meme. Space is nothing but an unimaginably large void of fucking nothing and black holes, what the fuck is there to explore? Even if scientists magically create hyperdrive to accelerate to lightspeed, its still going to take centuries to even start covering our own galaxy
How do we know how our galaxy looks like? It's not like we sent a probe to take a picture from the outside.
