Question: Am I missing much by playing The Witcher 2, without ever playing The Witcher 1?

I'm 20mins into The Witcher II and am lost as fuck. Looks like the 1st ended in a cliffhanger or something. Should I press on?

Why did they choose the skinniest Harley? Why did they choose the skinniest Wonder Woman? When will Hollywood try to put more fit girls into the roles of what are suppose to be physically active women?

Well TW1 is a pretty good game, with an odd combat system
Where as TW2 is a pretty good game, with an odd combat system, in a different way.
You need to try out 1, see if you can dig the combat, and play it through since the story is p good
If not, then see if you dig TW2's combat. If you don't you can always just max footwork and roll your way to victory.

Witcher 2 is a great game. Some people will tell you it has bad combat because they are quen spammers, but it really is a fun game with great quests.

The combat in TW1 is FAR more enjoyable than in 2. Don't even argue with this one.
Also TW2 took ONE of the 5 endings of TW1, and made that one "canon" by continuing straight from it, and ignoring all the other stuff you did.
TW3 on the other hand almost acts like TW2 never happened, and thank god for that. If anytihng, TW2 is the worst game in the trilogy, and one of the least enjoyable games I've had pleasure of experiencing.

They're interesting games but I don't see them as the ultimate RPGs like some people do. The story is VERY convoluted and you'll miss a ton if you ignore one. Best to play the games as a trilogy. I personally don't understand why people like these games so much or mass effect or dragon age other than the sci-fi and fantasy elements in both which are fun to a degree. In the end, regardless of how many hours you put in, it really doesn't matter how it ends.
