What's the most autistic video game? My friend and I are having this debate and I say the most autistic game ever is Factorio and he says it's Minecraft. Any other candidates for the title of Autism Simulator?
>>
>>334617530
Your favorite game.
>>
>>334617530

Nigger please.

Dwarf Fortress, any pre-2004 roguelike, classic grand strategy games...all much more autismal than Factorio or Minecraft.

Factorio and Minecraft are formative games for young autists so they make a big impression, but there's much more abstruse shit out there.
>>
I dunno, but I can get pretty autistic with some of the Anno games.
>>
Depends. Are we talking about the meme meaning of autism or the actual meaning of autism?
>>
Aurora 4X, maybe some monster wargame like War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition
>>
>>334617530
>give this game a try
>all that micromanagement

I'm pretty sure every person who likes this is either a shill or an autist

I like Minecraft, City Builders, 4X games and any Grand Strategy. Do I have the autism?

Posting on /v/ is the most autistic game.

You just like games that take time and dedication.
The only really autistic games are the Press X to win ones.
>>

Sorry but I'm not buying your autism simulator
>>
>>334618124

The meme, although the actual meaning would be just as interesting.

I've never found DF to be as autistic as I did factorio or minecraft, but I guess I never got to the upper-level gameplay either.

>>
>>334618467
You could go with ADOM, it's slightly lighter than Nethack and more in hack n' slash style.

If you're just starting with roguelikes or want something quick, try DooM roguelike, it's fast paced, surprisingly complex (but not very complex for a roguelike) and it has frigging strafing.

Even faster and shorter roguelike is Berserk! the roguelike. Just combat. That's all.

Angband is an old school rogue, can't remember much.

IVAN (Iter vehemens ad necem) is sadistic and humorous roguelike with dismemberment

There's just so many of them.

Well, factorio started as a minecraft mod, so you're both down the same track. Also there's simply no comparison, once you start getting deeper into shit like dwarf fortress you open a pandora box of purely autistic games like infinifactory and spacechem.

I'm a longtime Angband player and its a very easy roguelike to get into. Its also not stressfull at all since all floors reload and you can farm equipment. You're still not going to win though. I've played it for probably 10 years now and I've never been close.

>any pre-2004 roguelike
Nothing autistic about roguelikes, including dwarf fortress adventure mode. You're exploring and killing things like in all RPGs. Using ascii graphics doesn't inherently make something "autistic". Complex game systems, excruciating micromanagement, impenetrable interfaces, all contribute to the assburgers level of a game.
If you want to stretch the definition of "game" and go all the way, go play TIS-100. That's if you can.

That's just the thing, there's only micromanagement involved until you have proper automation set in place. Then it's just a matter of maintaining systems and planning for their longevity.
Lots of people approach factorio the wrong way, like there was some fag here who swore it was faster to build things by hand than to build assemblers, and he swore by it.
I guess it's the type of game that just doesn't work for some people.

Late-game puzzles in SpaceChem are usually easy to compartmentalize. You look at it and it seems like a huge problem, but step back a bit and you can see it's really just a bunch of little problems.Especially on very repetitive molecules like that, you really only need to make like a quarter of it and making the rest is just a result of repetition.

It's called a coffee break roguelike if it's casual then, which is significantly different from a regular roguelike.

Roguelikes are extremely difficult and asspunishing. Coffee break roguelikes are not, and can be beaten in a much shorter amount of time (see DCSS, where I ascended a GrFi of Okawaru>TSO in roughly five and a half hours with all 15 runes)

The whole point of the game is that you start out micromanaging everything but then use the shit you make to start automating everything instead so you can make even bigger more complex shit easily.
>>
>>334622085
Its extremely complex. One round takes ages.
>>
>>334622296
5 and a half hours is also really short compared to ascending in nethack which takes weeks

>The white background suddenly changes to that of a scene 50 meters above the Golden Gate Bridge... Ten miles west, barely visible, is a large ship hauling several containers heading toward the bridge for docking. The scenery is in true 3D. A 20 mph wind blows with cumulus humilis clouds 1/4 scattered above.

Definition

There is no formal definition of whether a roguelike is coffee-break or not. There may be even people that consider NetHack one of those. The above message by Artagas might be a starting point. General guidelines might look like this:

One can jump into the game as is - no reading of manuals, no learning of the keybindings
The game is simple to learn (but may be hard to master)
The game focuses on quality of elements instead of quantity
It may be completed in a time period that would be considered "short" - something like up to a few hours
A typical gameplay session is below an hour

Also the following might be considered valid but not exactly necessary features:

Screen sized levels
Limited inventory
No need/option to save game

A minute-long time lapse occurs where each second is 24 minutes. Knuckles remains inside his house at all times. The humans eat for a half second in bed then play Parcheesi and Uno on a table appearing in the house's center. Three small, fancy, cushioned, yellow (FFF0D20) chairs are around the table 120° apart. Ivan takes the northwest chair, Tu the east, and Tyler the southwest. The two-feet-in-diameter table has a fancy frosted glass top. Parcheesi lasts for three seconds. The humans read a book for 1.5 seconds and go to sleep. The light dims to 25 lumens, moving to the northwest corner and remains for 22 seconds. It returns to the center position and brightens to the original 1200 lumens. Breakfast is served, taking a half second, then the humans play Yahtzee for two seconds.
>>
>>334623003
Time required to ascend isn't part of the definition of roguelike.

Plus nethack pros have a better rate of ascension than dcss pros because nethack has far fewer random elements. Once you know everything in nethack you can approach it methodically and win nearly every time. With dcss the rng is far more likely to fuck you.

Yeah, DCSS IS easier and shorter, but it's still a roguelike. If you don't like it go yell at /rlg/ until they stop playing it :^)
