My favourite Sonic game next to Heroes and Unleashed

Better than Sonic 1 and CD, worse than 3K.
Too many filler zones, namely Hill Top and Oil Ocean.

I think Sonic 2 is the best 2D Sonic game. It improved greatly upon the original game and was able to bring a lot more to the table. S3&K is still my favorite Sonic game, though.

I had a similar experience. For a long time I could never beat the Chemical Plant zone, but one day before a weekend soccer game I did, and I left the genesis on and it was all I was thinking about while I was playing soccer.

I think I blew through a bunch of the levels after too.
