The first thing you should ever do when buying a multiplayer centric or only multi game is to check the player count.
Don't make a similar mistake to what I did and wait for Evolve to be cheap only to find there's no one playing.
It is surprisingly fun, and I've had a blast over the 50 hours I've put into it.
The online service is absolutely terrible though, and you can expect some kind of server issue to happen for a lot of the matches. The lack of content also makes it hard to recommend for full price. Pick it up if you can find it around $30, otherwise wait until a sale.

Also, if you're gonna pick it up, start with Thatcher. He's got a pretty good loadout and his ability couldn't be simpler. Either follow Thermite to get rid of electric/jammed walls, or emp room while people are breaching.
Get rook for defense since you just need to put down armor right at the beginning and you're done.

The usual free weekend experience of either amazing matches with people being tacticool and using the mic and on the other hand getting blown up in spawn by recruits who just throw a grenade for no reason.
How well playable is this normally when joining matches solo? I've got a high tolerance for pain and don't mind getting shat on once in a while.

That's an old and relatively weak card anon, it has significantly weaker benchmark scores than even the lowest power R9 series cards.
Lower your settings and enable Temporal Filtering under the AA options, TF will give you a huge performance boost, lowering texture quality will also give you a significant boost.
But really, consider upgrading your graphics card.

Love Thatcher's voice. Needs more content though, a new map would be nice, or a new game mode.

Sledge is pretty dependent on knowing the map. Best case, you bust through a wall behind enemies and get some easy kills. Worst case, you break down walls in a way that it's easy for your teammates to be shot.

For attackers Sledge is fun since it's straightforward carries a fucking sledge, no shit.
And actually Fuze is one of the best and most versatile attackers, just DON'T CLUSTER CHARGE THE OBJECTIVE ROOM IN HOSTAGE. JUST DON'T. DO ANYTHING ELSE. ANY OTHER ROOM YOU MAY. JUST NOT THAT ONE. His weapons are accurate and he's well armored, he's got a super good ACOG to mount in the AK so buy that shit ASAP and outplay holerats.

9 out of 10 times you get shot through a tiny hole in a wall you couldn't even see. Pretty stupid mechanics for a multiplayer game.

You have drones for that, several gadgets, and most important, a sound design to hear footsteps and chubbies rolling around the corner easily if you just keep quiet
And most of all sometimes complete stealth is overrated if you're attacker. You suspect someone's there? spray that wall, either you hit them or they get nervous and shoot back, giving their position.

I've been playing casual solo. It's not as bad as people make it out to be.
Tried the free weekend. Fun concept but feels like it was held back from achieving more success on PC by Ubisoft's poor marketing and the lack of flexibility towards custom games or player hosted servers.
