Let's be honest - it was more and more obvious during the golden age of RTS games.

DOOM is about to come out, Shadow Warrior 2 will come out this year, Serious Sam 4 will come out eventually.

Planetary Annihilation came out only 2 years ago and has a fairly strong clan wars scene, Ashes of the Singularity just came out, Cossacks 3 and Halo Wars 2 on the horizon, etc.
