Not really. You're missing out on some character history but, for the most part, you don't miss out on much.
You should probably play the whole series, or at 1, 2, 4, and 5 before playing 6 since that one's a mash up of a ton of characters finally reuniting and meeting for the first time. Too bad it's the worst RE game.

Wii version is super fucking easy mode. Being able to aim before readying your weapon is insanely broken.
Sure is fun as fuck though. I highly recommend it as something additional to play if you want more RE4, but it's certainly not the ideal way to experience the game.

No, it's pretty awful. It adds some extras from the original GCN release, which makes it slightly better, but there's no question as to its poor quality.
It's especially stupid to get the PS2 version when it's been released on every console and PC since then. You have to have a very particular situation to still have nothing better than a PS2 by now.

Yes. The original PC port released in 2007, two years after the PS2 port. It wasn't "poor" per se, but it was designed in such a way that the weakest of toasters could still run it. That said, it looked awful on even the highest settings so take that as you will.
I don't know anything about the new re-release on Steam but I believe that it's a legit port comparable to the console versions.

It's a great game tho. Just fucked up the story and no re game has ever been the same. So I take it with a grain of salt whenever I play it, even if it's fucking glorious. I hate it. So much fun tho.
