This has the potential to be pretty good with a little more effort.
>>
Yes, that is correct. Dark Souls 3 doesn't connect multiple areas to each other but the geography of the game world makes sense (you see areas you cleared or will clear in the distance, whereas in DS2 you ascended a windmill and wound up in a lava castle)
>>
Not at all
>>
>>334592597
abstract representation of the game design
>>
>>334592201
The areas in Dark Souls 3 are bigger than in Dark Souls 1 or 2, there are so many paths and optional dungeons. I think it was made a bit linear so people wouldn't get lost betweeen them.
>>
>>334592201
I wouldn't call 1 THAT intricate but otherwise it's pretty accurate.
>>
>>334593023
time and space are convoluted in Lordr-Drangleic, anon
>>
>>334592201
Some of the DS3 branching paths should be turned upside down. Most of the game's side paths lead to previously inaccessible areas that can be seen from early-game regions. A good example is the broken bridge that is skipped as the player is flown towards the Undead Settlement.
>>
>>334592201
>people keep complaining that the areas are not interconnected
Most of it fucking is though. Sure firelink and the high wall of lothric you have to warp to get to. However you can walk from the undead settlement all the way to the boreal valley. Probably further but i'm not there yet. They don't loop back around on eachother but you can certainly walk to most of them without warping.

DS3 has more interconnecting paths/loops and fewer dead ends than in your picture OP.

When will this fucking Dark Souls 1 is connected meme end? It's not better than DS2 when you compare any area with Yharnam

Dark Souls should just be Dark Souls 2's chart but have a semi-circle connect two of the maps.

DaS is nowhere near as sprawling as people make it out to be.
>>
>>334594817
The different areas looping is a big part of the experience though. You don't make the world seem immersive if it's just a long line with no loading screens. You make a circle and go "Oh, now i'm here again. Neet."
>>
>>334594419
You make a good point. Also how farron keep's wall links back with crusifixiction forest near where the Lizard is.

DaS:
Unless you have the master key, the first half is clearly meant to be tackled in a linear fashion
Burg -> Parish -> Depths -> Blighttown -> Sens -> Anor Londo

After that, you're pretty much unrestricted in where you can go

DS2:
There's a bit of openness at the start, but you're locked out of the Iron King path until after you beat Heide's Tower and you're locked out of the Freya path until you beat The Gutter or the Lost Sinner.

The after Drang, the game is completely linear

DS3:
much more linear, but there are some neat ways to sequence break since the game basically starts you off in the final area.
>>
>>334605290
You can kill red wizard in New Londo Ruins, steal the key and open path to Valley of Drakes.
>>
>>334592201
Dark Souls 1 needs longer dead end branches. The intricate interconnected part is only the first half of the game. The second half is all linear dead end levels.
Dark Souls 2 needs more branches in general. There are entire optional levels along the early paths. You also left out the fact that two of the early paths connect (Lost Bastille).

>>334605290
>locked out of the Freya path until you beat The Gutter or the Lost Sinner
Those aren't the only places to get Fragrant Branches. You can kill the first boss on any other path and cash in their souls to buy one from Melentia.
>>
>>334592201

DaS1 has less paths, DaS2 has more(but not much more).

My toaster can barely run 3 so I dunno about it.
>>
>>334606003
if we're talking about SotfS, sure
>>
>>334605290
Just because you are meant to take a path doesn't mean you are forced to. You can explore New Londo Ruins, Darkroot Forest/Basin, Ash Lake, and Catacombs/Tomb of the Giants (god help you) before you even ring a bell.
>>
>>334605290
>Burg -> Parish -> Depths -> Blighttown -> Sens -> Anor Londo

I fought Sif before blighttowns and even depths I think.

I fought him before Butterfly even.

Blind playthroughs are a beautiful thing.

>Our halfassed world design is a feature! Really!
>>
>>334607068
that doesn't take into account hard lockouts

like the keys in DaS and the pisswalls in DaS

and the fragrant braches, miracle bitch and King Walls in DS2

and the bullshit Archives key in DS3
>>
>>334592201
If you said "Fallout 2, 3, and NV" instead of DA then maybe.
>>
>>334606941
On my semi-blind playthrough, I accidentally missed the depths and found the valley of the drakes path for blighttown. I didn't even know I missed an area until looking up a guide right before fighting gwyn.

Das1fags are becoming as annoying as pokemon genwunners.
>>
>>334606338

I think that when people say "more paths" they mean alternative routes to the same destination, the world was interconnected. Where as DaS2 was a junction you get to, and from there, can take one of 3-5 extremely linear (like "I can't possibly get lost" linear) paths. I wouldn't call that more.
