Playing SO5 was a good reminder that as much as we love bitching about new Tales games, the series as a whole is still head and shoulders above most of it's competitors. Even the most shitty Tales mainline game is.
About the only one that comes close in terms of consistency is Ys and that's a completely different beast.
And it's funny because Tri-Ace talked all sort of shit in regards to Zestiria during the months before SO5, but Star Ocean 5 end up as a thoroughly mediocre experience. Feels more like a tech-demo, reused content out of the arse, about the only good thing is the TECHNOLOGY aspects. Tri-Ace is always good at that.
