Ive beaten every MegaMan game. Mega man X7 counts only because it should serve as an example of how to not make a game. Megaman Soccer sucks and doesnt count at all.

the series is fractured among 7 or so different subseries so each individual series doesn't feel like it has much.
Mega Man Classic has 11 mainline games and 6 of them were on the NES. the X series has 8 mainline games. Does that really seem like that much?

131 is a misleading number since some of the spinoffs have notably different gameplay and appeal to different people, like I'm mostly just a fan of Classic.
Though, even then I have 16 titles, more depending on whether you count spinoffs or questionably-canon games like MM&B2, so I guess that doesn't answer the question.
Really, it's just that people who want more of a thing they like, same as something like Mario fans or Kirby fans. There are plenty of good Mario and Kirby games but it's reasonable for people to want more, eventually a dedicated fan will have played them all, or all the ones in the subseries they like, and will want more.
There are good ROMhacks and fangames, of course, I probably like Rockman 4 Minus Infinity more than any of the official games, but there's still something special about a new official game in a series you like, as long as it isn't garbage like Megaman and Bass, fuck that game.
