built from the ground up for DLC rather than sold as a complete game.
>>334561215
I got the game on release and never played it more than 2 hours
>>334561215
Because it was mediocre and charged out the ass for in game characters that should've been unlockable.
One of the best cases of the actual DLC problem where you have to buy bits and pieces of the game on top of the 60 you blew on the original game to get the full game.
I'm glad it failed.
>>334562972
I hope you at least learned your lesson.
>>334561215
reskinned l4d with a gorillion dlcs
>>334561215
>game has little to no content
>proceed to charge the living fuck out of everyone with DLC
Even the average gaming isnt so stupid to fall for this shit. It was a poorly made game with no content and too much DLC so people didnt bother.
Also, fuck asymmetric multiplayer games that are 1 v Multiple. It should be asymmetrical but balanced in the number of players
>>334561215
Imagine being on the development team for this.
You make an enjoyable game that you put a lot of work into. Then your publisher steps in and wants to nickel and dime consumers. Now everyone hates you. And there's nothing you could have done.
Fuck it's like some kind of nightmare.
They weren't joking when they said running around looking for monsters. My friend bought it on launch and a ton of DLC. No matter which character he picked, it was just running in circles.
I got to play the alpha and beta with some friends.
So i didn't feel like buying it.

>You make an enjoyable game that you put a lot of work into. Then your publisher steps in and wants to nickel and dime consumers. Now everyone hates you. And there's nothing you could have done.
That isnt what happens, this is what happens
>Developer who knows they need to make money design a game around that fact based on something they think will be fun, but ultimately sacrifice gameplay in order to nickle and dime people
>Go to publisher and get the okay to start production and money
>Proceed to nickle and dime people
They are just as guilty as the publishers themselves. If they wanted to make money they could have designed a system that was fair rather than doing shitty DLC. The publisher doesnt care how you make money, as long as you do. They could have had a cosmetic system instead and the publisher would have okayed production
They spent so much money marketing this game before release.
There was even $200,000 worth of DLC available for purchase for true gamers like myself.
From these factors alone it should have been GOTY, but it was dead in a week. Weird. How could this happen?
>>334563561
It makes me glad that I don't work in video games and any solo work I do will never be subjected to that hell.
I genuinely forgot Evolve even existed. The massive levels of DLC put me off from trying it, threads are rare, and everyone I know that bought it stopped talking about it in less than a month.
>>334561608
A shining example of why gamers should boycott E3 entirely.
Game was pretty enjoyable on launch and was fun for like 4 hours a week or so. But it's gotten to the point where the only people playing are tryhard hackers that will do anything for a win in nonranked games. Games now end in like 3 minutes, the hunters know exactly where the monster is at all times and just bum rush it before it even eats a single fucking alien. Shit's not fun anymore.
Man i remember during the unveil they had professional "evolve teams" playing "competitive" against each other, like this shit would have that. It just made me laugh that they were trying to pull what valve did and thinking it would work.
Because they went kind of full retard with the DLC, to much DLC for something can kill your community, moreso if you're a multiplayer only game.
i remember that one guy who just relentlessly shilled for this game; 'sares' or something like that. he would come here and post all the same "fuck you i liked it" and "games that /v/ hates because its cool" bullshit threads.
>>334562972
dumb frogposter
>>334561608
>all these paid shills
>Humble Bundle "Build Your Own Evolve Bundle" sale
>Get Evolve + choose any 2 DLC!
Oh neat this might be--
>there's 30 fucking DLCs
oh well fuck that
So a friend of mine bought an Xbone, and this was one of the games for it. I asked him if he could find a game reliably, and he said that he could. Is the game dead just on PC, or is it dead across all platforms?
>>334561608
>damn i love playing that game!
>i know! its so much fun!
>evolve is super fun!
>>334561215
I liked it but found that it takes FOREVER to go get to the next game after beating one. So much waiting for what winds up being a somewhat shallow game experience. Would've been better if there was less waiting.
I considered buying this to play it on my own, I like the idea of switching between all the different hunter classes on the fly during the game.
Just biding my time until there's a GOTY all DLC super epic maximus giganigga edition for like $7 on sale.
>>334565325
a year later and the "full" version is still 50 dollars with another 230 dollars of dlc. there's no way in hell a complete edition will be less than 10 dollars in the foreseeable future.
A damn shame, too. I really liked the aesthetic for everything, and the gameplay was pretty fun for a while. Plus Wraith a qt
>>334565687
Then I'll keep waiting I'm in no hurry.
If I play it in 3 years I'll play it in 3 years.
Kauyon, Gue'vesa.
>>334561215
Because the devs and producers were retarded.
For fucks sake the devs are STILL trying to run esports for it.
>>334566247
Where the fuck they get funds to run it ?
>>334566461
No idea. Heck I have no idea why they're still supporting the game at all since even years old obscure indie games have a higher player count.
>>334564967
Its probably just him trying to convince you to buy it or believe him, i had a buddy who wanted to play titanfall recently and i kept telling him it was dead, we found lobbies, but seeing how around only 2000-5000 people are playing it on a faily basis, its pretty much dead
But yea your friends being a cunt
>>334561215
10 000 $ total buying price, i think
>>334566713
I don't have an Xbone, I was just curious about the game since he's the only one I know who owns it.
Predictably, none of the games he has on the Xbone are actually exclusive.
>>334561215
1. Day-One DLC, devs stated specifically there would not be day one dlc
2. Absurd prices for new characters, $7.50 for new hunter and $10 for monsters. It would be okay if this shit was free to play but it's not.
3. A huge amount of bugs that didn't get fixed until game was already ded (6+ months)
4. Forums were maximum amount of autism and retardation, place was a nightmare
This is coming from someone who put in over 260 hours into the game.
>>334564967
Never, ever fall for friends lies about co-op games.
>YA BRO ITS PACKED, WE'LL PLAY ALL THE TIME
When the time comes, you'll be stuck with a shitty dead co-op game and your friend will play once with you before he moves on.
>>334561215
And when I say there were bugs, we are talking about serious, game breaking bugs here
>>334561215
Seriously
>>334567017
I'm not stupid enough to play multiplats on console, I was just asking if it was Battlefront situation where the game is more alive on console than PC.
It's like there just weren't enough game breaking bugs for the devs to even consider fixing them
>>334567416
So is he dead, rolling, and/or stuck?
>>334567186
>>334561215
What gaem?
>>334567653
>that fish hiding from the sharks.webm
>200 players average
>6000 average during the free weekend
fucking hell
if that many people are willing to download 40gigs just to play for 3 days then why not go fucking ftp
the game was actually fun when there was a decent sized player base.
>>334567416
He got permanently stuck in a roll from a monster attack. He was still with us and talking, but couldn't move.
>>334568941
This was meant for
>>334567470
>tfw the game was actually fun
It had a lot of issues but I had fun.
>>334561215
Might have been alright if they did free to play from day one
Nobody pays for these kind of games these days
I was so excited when I heard about this game. It's the posterchild for an over-hyped triple A game that fails to deliver.
Saying that, the gameplay is solid and it is quite unique with some cool character design and ideas. But it does not have lasting potential and got pretty stale for me.
Right before I uninstalled it I was just running around exploring or being the monster mostly to entertain my son.
