I have one right next to me and I hate it, biggest regret purchase this generation, and I got it for 60 bucks, would be suicidal if I paid 300 or whatever the xl price was on release.
Do you plan to hack it with CFW, a9lh, and pirated games?
If yes, then pick up an N3DS (better framerates with NTR, SNES and Genesis games, and a few exclusives maybe) or a 2DS (much cheaper at this point, but not really portable and lacks the benefits of a new model).
If you don't give a shit about having every game in the (rather small discounting shovelware) library for free and a veritable emulation machine then don't waste your money.
It depends 100% on whether you like Monster Hunter or not.

Unless it came with a bunch of pre-installed games, you did bad. Installing CFW is doable with a physical copy of OoT, a Powersave, and some patience.

It's probably the best console of this gen so far (although ps4's line up this year is looking strong), so yeah if you care about contemporary non-pc gaming u should get one.
