Yeah, it worked in DaS1 because there was an actual poise system in place (which allowed to to actually tank attacks from multiple attackers), and there wasn't a plethora of weapons and spells designed to just spam death all over the place.
You also weren't thrown into worlds with 1+ phantoms 99% of the time. A multi invasion in prior games was a nice treat, not the norm.
Stop pretending like you're some pro invader, we all know you're a casual who summons for every boss in all the games. At least the new system helps reveal the shitters who can't beat bosses solo.

The PvP is fine.
If you invade you should be prepared to take out multiple targets.
If you are summoned as a red then it's expected to have a nice 1v1.
I'm not holding back if you invade me and if I'm summoned as a purple I always bumrush the red or another purple. When I invade I try to be sneaky and I will use monsters against a group of white/blue phantoms.

The damage output is pretty crazy and the poise sword art helps a bit. I'm using it mostly as a form of convenience as it's the best Greatsword I have. If I found a better Greatsword though I'd switch to it. A lot of people underestimate their speed/stunlock potential. It has a bit of armor at a certain point on the attack as well.

Ultra great swords are safe as fuck. Whiffed hits should be easy to punish but they can immediately parry out of it, it's completely retarded

I like the new system, it encourages the invader to do what was originally intended all the back in DeS: be apart of the level. Now you have to use the enemies to your advantage to beat the host and his posse, turning you into some sort of mini boss.
Too many people treat invasions like some huge competitive thing when they're supposed to be fun challenges for the host to overcome. If you want actually fair and competitive match ups that's why the red sign soapstone exists.
