I've just beat the curse rotten tree and the boss difficulty is underwhelming.
There were some encounters with normal enemies that were hard but the bossfight difficulty makes me sad so far.

I feel like this game consumes more fucking resources than it has any business using. Sometimes when I tab out to open browser to look at weapons I haven't found yet, I either can open the browser with a bit of slowdown, or can't do anything at all and my PC starts shitting itself because the game is consuming monstrous amounts of memory.

I'm positive there's an issue with memory leaks.

My game ran fine for the most part, but as I continued playing, I'd reach points where my game would sometimes freeze solid for 3-4 sec then continue, and then perform worse after that, and would have to quit and reboot the game.

Are you implying that Dark Souls 3 didn't fall into what 2 did? The game dumps armies at you in a desperate attempt to be difficult. The entire game consists of this shit. The difference between 2 and 3 is that 3 doesnt take place exclusively in tight, narrow, claustrophobic environments the entire game. You have ample room to navigate and manage larger groups of enemies.

I've only died to groups a few times due to my own recklessness. Can honestly say there were way less "bullshit" enemy placements in 3 than there were in 2.

It's completely different from DaS2. It's all in the map design and enemy placement.
Everything in this game can be antecipated. All those gank squads you say are 99.5% of the time, enemies that dies fast and can the gank can be seen if you pay attention to your enviroment.
You look up, you see those thiefs on the walls. You look around corner, you see a weapon pointing out. There are hands on the walls, telling you an enemy is hanging. Every single gank can be antecipated. It's a whole different thing from 2.

Narrow, claustrophobic environments lend themselves well to dealing with groups since you can lead them around the environment until they're properly spaced out and attack them like that. More open, barren environments often end up with you running away from 2-3 enemies that stick near each other with no way to seperate them short of running back to a different area. Also unlike 2, you're constantly getting blasted with arrows or magic while dealing with groups, especially in the later areas. Seems like the developers simply don't know how to make decent challenges for experienced players without doing that.

If I was Myazaki I would have added a third phase to the final boss that only appears on NG+99 that turns him into Giantdad with "Well, what is it" gestures whenever he pancakes you (every hit) and whenever he kills you you get sent a PSN message from FromSoft that just says "THE LEGEND NEVER DIES!". Plus the music from OnlyAfro's video

Just to see if it ever got found. Also keep it exclusive to console versions so it can't be found by datamining.

Enemies die fast but they also attack and move fast while also often having those messy combos or delayed swings that are harder to read. Dark Souls 2's enemies died slower but were very easy to read so the combat was less about getting the first hit in and then stunlocking enemies and more about knowing their moves and dodging. Also being able to see those little goblin fuckers won't do you much good when you're assaulted by arrows and suicide hollows.

I'm at exactly the same point as you. In the next part watch out that you don't accidentally walk into the Crystal Sage boss. I just made that mistake after clearing the fuckin swamp and walking in without filling up my health and got instagibbed by some sort of AoE blue ice rain.

Fume Knight is easily the most satisfying.
He's tricky but his patterns become readable and fair.
He has two swords, the big one is slow and the small one is fast so you can anticipate how fast his attacks will be but it mixes it up throughout the fight.
You learn that his widest swing goes behind him so you know to roll towards only one side when he does it.

Some DaS3 bosses are harder, but mainly because they're just super fast with their combos, you feel like you're learning a lot less in DaS3, it's like you're persisting but not improving.

All the enemies have so little health and deal so little damage compared to DaS2, and although they often appear in groups they don't fucking notice you unless you sprint up to them. I've been kind of annoyed to find I can backstab some dude and an enemy 6 feet to my right doesn't notice or care.

Honestly, as much as I like it? I really prefer Demon's or DaS2 to 3. 3 just feels like Bloodborne 2 + Souls fanwank. Miyazaki is a hack.

I prefer 3 to 2 easily but mostly because the area/enemy/boss designs and the overall atmosphere carry the game. Oftentimes it's unfun in a way that not even the worst areas in Dark Souls 2 were. The playtesters must have REALLY liked the combat. Don't know why else they'd think it's fine to expect a normal player to have the patience to deal with the absolutely insane amounts of enemies the game throws at you.

Yeah, that's the problem. They're not even difficult enough to be engaging, you're just going through huge groups of enemies on autopilot after a certain point and it feels incredibly tiresome. It's a desperate attempt to challenge players, and it even fails at being challenging.

My patience was really wearing thin by the end.
The optional areas are fucking horrible, not a lot of point in doing them unless you're a completionist and want all the items and achievements.

Lothric castle is full of annoying assholes who deal absurd amounts of damage, mainly the red eyed knights
