Third-Party Shit

I'm impressed that someone managed to find a worse place for the D-pad than the standard N64 controller.
>>
>>334465434
no one used it.

Butshit.
>>
>>334463693
I use one for some games, it's alright. I prefer the OEM controller for others.
>>
>>334465489
you think that might be because it was impossible to use?
>>
>>334465797
How so? It even had it's own fucking handle
>>
>>334465434
>worse
actually accessible to play without a third hand its worse?
you either have 3 hands or just retarded, probably both you inbreed fuckhead.
>>
>>334465434
It looks awkward, but you can reach it with your thumb just fine. It's not like the D-pad was used for more than a couple games anyway.
>>
>>334463693
It's superior to the original N64 controller unless you need to use the D-pad
>>
>>334466457
The hori joystick actually has worse range, more deadzone, and sometimes inconsistent angles. The OEM controller joystick was extremely good apart from the fact it wore down after a couple years. Most people who whine about the N64 controller have never used a fresh one.
>>
>>334466578
>wore down after a couple years
more like a couple of months if you had friends and mario party.
God, that shit killed so many controllers for me.
>>
>>334466578
I agree, but fresh ones are almost impossible to come by and replacing the analog stick doesn't feel exactly the same. The reason I rate the Hori Mini higher is simply because of longevity

>fresh ones are almost impossible to come by
no they're not, i got three of them on ebay just this year for around $30 each lol. by the time they all wear down in a few years there will be a decent 3rd party alternative. speedrunners and the smash 64 community have people dedicating a lot of their time creating accurate, more durable replicas

you're right that the current available replacement sticks suck ass though. fucking chinese stock bullshit.
>>
>still trying to defend the N64
If gamers today could finally figure out that the N64 was nothing more than a horrible pile of garbage, modern gaming might actually improve.

How do people feel about the Gamecube stick style replacement?

it's a piece of shit.

I guess it depends on where you live. I have a hard time finding anything without expensive shipping

melee players like looser sticks

b-b-but d-pads are important! not at all antiquated for 3d games!
>>
>>334463693
Abomination.
>>
Am I the only one who hated the Gamecube control stick?

64 felt more natural even if it wore away after a while.
>>
>>334470325
As somebody that's been playing GC games for the past week on a practically fresh out of the box controller I've had sitting around since 2003, no idea what you're talking about. It's a very nice stick, even if it feels a little weird not to have the ability to click it in.
>>
>>334471661
It's a good joystick, but the mapping is too sensitive, too much deadzone, not enough range. Most modern joysticks have this issue. The n64 joystick was great just because of how many steps it has. It had flaws, like having a plastic grip and wearing down quickly, but functionally it's one of the most precise joysticks ever used on a home console.
>>
>>334472419
I'll agree with all of that. It's something I personally like about Sony's controllers, they tend to have a much tighter deadzone than their xbox counterparts. I've never quite been able to get used to the 360 controller as a result and the original hueg controller is pretty much as bad in that regard.
>>
>>334466919
There's already a decent 3rd party alternative. Look into TTX Tech's N64 controllers
>>
>>334468367
>melee
yeah, worn in gamecube controllers are significantly more functional than worn in n64 controllers. don't see how that's relevant.
>>
>>334463693
2expensive. Also reminds me of Cosmowright and how MY MIND WANDERS
>>
>>334465434
It's literally the same as the Gamecube placement and that shit was goat
>>
>>334473107
you're joking right? i own one of those and it's complete bullshit, literally as bad as a replacement stick.
