Work on your it. It seems like you have a rough idea of what you're doing, but you need to work on your reactions and punishes. I'm sure you know he's intended to be played like a boxer. It's all about the footwork and studying your opponents. In fights where I've lost the first round, I've made a comeback because I studied how the opponent does every little thing. Get into their heads. Notice their habits and exploit them. Mac is the embodiment of what it means to be an underdog. One of the key things is to not be intimidated by the opponent. You seemed reluctant to approach me, but you'll never get anywhere if you don't take risks.
There's plenty of Shittle Macs out there. Don't become one of them. Do your part and knock their fucking lights out.

Good. Another thing is the mentality behind playing him. I mentioned that he's the underdog, so always fight like you're trying to prove something. Never give up. Despite the odds, Mac never gave up during any of the Punch-Out games. Doc Louis is always watching you. You could supplement this by watching Rocky or Creed or something.

That conversation between Viridi, Pit, and Palutena is pretty accurate. Any Mac becomes frantic to plant their feet on the ground once they've been popped up. I have a habit of fast falling and when people start anticipating it, I wind up eating shit.
That being said, some of them (like me) will probably anticipate you anticipating the jump back onto the stage, then smack you with a forward air. If the KO punch is ready, you're probably dead.
The only real way to get a better idea of how he works is to play against more and more Macs. If that's not feasible, just watch videos. Here's some of my replays.
