No, you supreme retard. MGS1, 2, and 3 give you a space to mess with the guards in the first hour. They don't take you thouh a heavily scripted call of duty tutorial level. It is the most un-MGS thing in the game.

MGS 2 and 3 are timeless in terms of gameplay (arguably in terms of plot as well), they are both so polished that I couldn't put them down for weeks when I played for the first time.
MGS has never been good as a stealth game. It lacks the subtleties and atmosphere. It's an interactive anime not a game.

All of the numbered Metal Gears had great gameplay. MG2 and vanilla MGS3 probably had the biggest issues due to sometimes wonky controls. But even so they still played extremely well. Peace Walker is the only mainline game that dropped the ball, but that's most likely due to the portable origins of the game. PSP just wasn't set up for a proper MGS.

While the levels are more linear there are still multiple routes and stuff.
I have already played the games at least a dozen times, I basically did everything there was to do in it. That was before trophies got released for the game. So I wanna redo everything to earn the trophies. Enough time has passed that the game has become foggy to me so it will be enjoyable.

MGS1 had pretty good gameplay at the time, it's not as good today, but frankly I think it still holds up well enough. But at release it was pretty solid.
MGS2, 3 and 4 were great, and still are good today.
MGS5 has the best gameplay out of them all, and I think will probably hold up very well over time just because of how damned responsive and good all the movement, CQC, looking around and aiming, ect all feel.
