If they'd gone the TF2 route with straight microtransactions, nobody would protest. Instead, they're charging normal game prices, with enough microtransactions to get under your skin, but not enough to actually be worthwhile.
And for some reason, Blizzard has already shown that they can do the Free to Play with microtransactions model, they just don't WANT TO here.

if they offered a VERY open world editor and custom severs then I would pay $60 since I would probably get a good +100 hours of enjoyment out of that. Any game that gives me a 100 hours of enjoyment is well worth 60, but this bare minium shit of playing on official blizzard servers only will probably last me 20-30 hours tops.
Bought Doom and Battleborn instead. Overwatch seems like it would just get boring after a few days. I can see myself grinding new gear in Battleborn and at least Doom has a campaign with a decent enough multiplayer.

It's really weird how things worked out. I was so hyped for Overwatch when it was announced, but my hype for it has just steadily went down over the last year or so. Meanwhile, I was convinced Battleborn would be shit because I hate Gearbox, their design philosophy, and their sense of humor. And no, a map editor is so fucking limiting man, the sc2 arcade is so limiting with what you can do.That one of the reasons why the arcade was dead on launch. The biggest problem with these are the pay models. They don't feel like sixty dollar games (Overwatch is a locked sixty dollars if you're on consoles). Everything about them is F2P except you have to pay for it, just like with SFV. I guess this will be the new model for multiplayer games because you get all the revenue of a normal game and F2P game in one.

Personally I just don't like the whole "moba abilities" and "everyone has a game-changing ultimate" shit. It feels like it takes more away from the game than it truly adds.

But that's wrong. Both games come with all characters for free.
In Battleborn, you have to unlock them by playing the campaign or leveling up, and the season pass gives you the five upcoming heroes instantly, otherwise you unlock them like the rest.
Future Overwatch heroes will be immediately available for free as well.
Meanwhile, SFV characters cost money, are unlocked via Season Pass, or can be purchased with in-game currency after winning about a billion gamesgit gud.

SFV fucks you over with more paid characters and plenty of content that wasn't in the game at launch but really should have been. Overwatch seems relatively complete, with characters and maps being free updates. It's not a free to play game just because everyone expected it to go the fuck me in the ass f2p model like HotS. Though I agree 60 is too steep and even 40 is a bit much. But I'd spend 20-30 to get a complete multiplayer game I have fun with.

Welcome to modern multiplayer games. They need to be designed with Twitch and little kids in mind. Kids and frat boys can't think for more than ten minutes so they need their epic matches to be short and sweet.
Game will also probably be devoid of much matchmaking and communication options to so as to not offend people. Hearthstone is one of the most barebones major multiplayer games I've ever seen.
It's worth $10-$20.

The thing I don't get about you insecure faggots is why you think you're the special one for doing your job. Every team needs a tank, a healer, and a damage dealer. That's just how shit works. All three is harmony and missing any of those components can make the team not as effective.
You aren't special because you held left click like the rest of your team. You just did the task you signed up for and you probably didn't do it any better than someone else would have since there was probably only one healer on the team so you've nothing to compare it to.

I am in the beta, and it's definitely not what I was expecting, I haven't picked it up for a while. I have over 1000 hours of TF2, and even though it and overwatch are class-based shooters, they play very differently.
Overwatch achieves a weird feeling of dying too fast and too slow.
Infinite ammo results in constant spraying for area control, so unless you have a very competent healer, you're often struggling not to take chip and then die from a single, hard hit. So playing safe, controlling area with spam, and punishing are rewarded heavily.
Outplaying multiple enemies is pretty difficult in this game, to a degree that is not very good for fps's.
Every class that has good killing power has too low of a health pool to pull off outplaying multiple people at the same time. The only times you can really do this is with your ultimate, which is flawed, because when you're on the receiving end, you don't really feel like you necessarily got outplayed. You lost the life feeling, well there's one of the enemy team's 2min insta-kill cooldown.
I don't really like the cool-down system for a lot of characters. For some characters, it doesn't feel like you're in control of your character all the time and for others, it leads to stalling until your shit is back up, or else you will be significantly disadvantaged.
Tf2 far superior, fluid movement and more satisfying guns.

There is no CTF mode, yet. There is Payload, Control Points where both teams start off with 2 and there is a neutral point, and Attack/Defend control points. Basically all the TF2 standard modes. Also Weekly Arena/Brawl whatever they call it, which is a random ruleset each week. There was everyone is McCree and only headshots count, currently this week's is everyone has a shitton more health, and lower cooldowns so its just spamming skills and shit constantly.

Got this right after too.
It's not complex or anything, but it's really polished and pretty easy to pick up and play.
I played Battleborn and was so confused over what was happening and everything just felt really unrewarding despite it trying so hard to be unique. I guess that's kind of the thing about Overwatch, it's not extraordinary with the mechanics but it's solid. I'd definitely play it over Battleborn.

A problem really is they would have to design the mode where characters teleport or Demojump casually across the map. If you simply mute all abilities while you have the flag, the match would just never finish or be a tie. Characters are far too slow and squishy and a successful cap would require a whole team escorting the carrier because the carrier isn't a character anymore.
It works in alot of games because everyone is the same or its a small selection of classes, so even in Titanfall the super fast movement is fine for CTF because everyone is the same. Tracer teleporting with the flag and rewinding to take another route would be insanely broken, or Pharah just flying away and the flag dropping to someplace only a few characters can get to.

When TF2 came out people pretty much had the same complaints people have for Overwatch now. That it isn't complex and it's pretty much just another team based shooter and that they're burnt out after a few hours.
It's not really a game trying to be different, it's just trying to be a solid FPS and I think that makes it similar to TF2 at least in that regard. It has a longer lasting appeal because of the polish it has. If Blizzard keeps interesting content updates rolling, it has a pretty good future.

Blizzard is very anti-invisibility. Its weak in HotS and it would be weak in this, especially with all the random splash damage chipping at a low-health stealth character. I think a Disguise character could work. Have a set of skill out of disguise, then the ultimate is the Disguise itself. Make it a perfect transformation so you could use the person's standard non-ult abilities for a time.

The team balance is shit because it uses MMR, which is the WORST fucking way to do matchmaking in a team game.
People are too fucking stupid with their class choices, just like in TF2 ("Oh, we have 2 snipers already? Well lemme just squeeze another Widowmaker right in here").
That said, the combat is fun and all the characters are fun to play, even the supports.
