Gran Turismo 4's physics engine is extremely anti-comfy. It's a fucking twitchy, understeer-biased, ridiculous snap-overcorrection pile of shit, and only people who don't know how to drive think it's realistic because it's difficult for them and they assume difficult = real.

Mario Kart 8 is pretty comfy too (comfiest of all the MK games, IMO).
The drifting physics are sublime, as if Nintendo stole some staff members from Sega to make it. It's nice to look at, the music is great, there's a very healthy variety of tracks with the generous DLC, and you can change the item rotation to your liking.
Drifting around SNES Rainbow Road to that remix of the original song is fucking great.

I didn't even really like Mario Kart that much before, and MK8 blows away all its predecessors. I'm a hardcore racing game fan who plays sims and other "real" racing games, and MK8 is my pick for the best racing game so far this generation.

GT2 was the comfiest ever.
First of all, you played it in the 90s.
When life was simpler and you were probably better off than now so you could really get into it.
It had graphics and physics and everything else the likes you never seen b4 on a psx.
Menu jazz music, sounds, car encyclopaedia, this feeling of actually travelling between cities on a map where you had car manufacturers and used cars saloons, the most authentic shit ever.
Having money, personal garage, cars tuned to your liking, long racers to make cash, everything played right into your gatherers/collectors feel, you felt like you actually had something, even if those were just models in game, in a time when you could actually commit to a vidya "just models" were enough to be real for you.
And you havent seen it all before, first time is the best time.

There is seriously something very wrong with the engine, lateral grip is fucked up to the point where you couldnt even drift properly.
Flagship car, Ford GT R version had some horrible bug in the physics, normally the car has some level of snap oversteer, its ok but, the moment you fit it with racing soft and let go of a throttle midcorner, it would do 360 on a dime.
You could race it only on sport tires and even then it was tricky shit to drive.
To this day I have no idea how the fuck a car that is on a box and in intro movie getting more angles than JAV voyeur porn was so botched...
The worst part tho, in GT4 they introduced this fucking awful steering input filter that made it to every consecutive part of the series since then.
Basically the higher your speed or during exceeding slip angles, turning ability was limited.
It would be fine if there was speed dependant only filter or slip angle only but they mixed few filters which caused every single car to feel like its on rails because you couldnt turn any more the moment your front tires reached limit.
Since this whole thing constantly adjusting you cant even hold a curve trough a turn because you have to either turn harder as you speed up out of the turn or let go as you lose grip or adjust live because fuck any predictable steering input.

GT 5/6 were the worst GT yet, yeah they looked nice but gameplay wise it was like I am playing some arcade game from 90's.
The games not only stuck in 90's but took a few steps back comparing to other games in the series, GT2 or 4 or both had qualification at least, in GT5/6 the only thing you do is chasing the bunny, always starting at the last position and have to make it first trough road full of slow retards who will bump into you on every corner.
I am not even mentioning the fact GT6 took out photo travel locations for no good reason or released track creator for tablets only, beside, both games were a halfassed base for DLC...

Those for example, remember when we could just mash in a code on a controller for 1m cr, now you would probably get psn banned for this, the fact people on forum somehow justify it not helping...
In GT5 you had also cars and tracks, in GT6 reward model was heavily slanted to make you at least consider getting those credit packs.
At some point they just gave up because GT6 wasnt getting anywhere near GT5 in terms of selling so they probably decided its not worth bothering.
Especially that GT Sport and GT 7 are in the work.
You can tell tho it was supposed to have DLC, they just gave up on the game altogether.

First of all gameplay, you ALWAYS start last and have to make it first in set number of turns, in GT4 you had at least legit races and this bullshit was reserved for special races which I hated, now its been the new norm since GT5.
There is no racing structure, there is no realistic management of anything racing related, there is nothing that makes GT 5/6 an autosport kind of game.

Getting anywhere takes hours of grind (it was fine 20 years ago when they were deciding on what shape should racing game take, not now)
Fucking Outrun 2006 somehow have better progression than GT.
Sounds set their own standards, when you think it cant sound any worse you get into a stock car which sounds like overcharged prius on hi rev.
Everything gives off feel of nice and shiny but eventually hollow shell of a game, nothing is fledged out, everything is barebones.
It just looks nice.
You cant even skip those cutscenes when you buy a car.
Someone did calculations and there were dozens of hours to watch every single car bough animation.
