Where do I find the doll to keep going in this area? This game has a fire keeper not a doll to take care of you like in Bloodborne.

Goto Cathedral of the Deep bonfire, walk up the stairs/hill from there. Clear that zone.

go to the crucifixion woods and there's a large castle like structure right next to the bonfire, go in through the hole and make your way to the crystal sage
then after that there's the cathedral of the deep which is a great area

I guess you proceeded straight to Faron keep then. You might have missed the crucifixion woods bonfire too.
There's a broken keep at the left side of the forest with the crabs. If you go through it you'll reach the sage. From there you can get to the cathedral.
