I took him down in like a minute. He barely has any health, I seriously expected there to be a second phase to the fight where he got his health back, but nothing happened. Just target the one with the purple casts when he multiplies himself and go all out on him while 2 handing your weapon. The later bosses are going to eat you alive if you can't beat this guy.

I thought Aldritch was one of the easiest bosses but it appears lots of people think he's the hardest? I also found the Crystal Sage really tough, all his second summons would fuck me while I focused on hitting the main dude
The only attack of Aldritch that was much of a threat was the fire imbued arrows, but even they took about two tries to work out how to dodge

Abyss Walkers are easy with a melee build, especially with fast weapons. The 2nd phase is literally hell for casters, (until you figure you can stunlock them with a short sword).

Aldrich obliterated me the first time around, I haven't gone back to fight him yet but Crystal Sage and the Abyss Walkers were piss easy with a pure melee build. It helps that no one knows how to deal with a fucking greatshield.

Not to mention it results in there only ever being one fucking direction to travel in more often than not.

The most I could ever get was two consecutive hits before he either normal rolls away, does the dodge into dagger lunge attack that cannot be interrupted/traded, or just decides to shrug off the flinch and start comboing you.
I always wanted to just be super aggressive instead of waiting for the others to spawn so I could fish for easy backstabs. His gigantic AOE in second phase punishes aggressive rolls pretty hard combined with his poise, and the flame aftereffect making you flinch also fucked up my aggression.
It just seems like he was designed to shit on my playstyle which is why he gave me so much trouble.

Need a faster weapon, his fast attacks can be interrupted, it's his slow attacks which can't, so just keep an eye out for that and dodge.
How do you guys have the patience to play through this game? DS3 is my first DS and I got bored very quickly. It feels like I might be missing something but the gameplay can be shorten to run to monster and spam light attacks and roll around occasionally when boss/big weapon. You basically only die to weird vicious setups or bad combo rng on bosses and when you do you're forced to hack your way through all the useless trash mobs you've killed for the last 10 minutes.

This, I was in the Way of the Blue until I found the Rosalia Fingers, and up to that point, whenever I was invaded, which happened 4 times, a Blue would instantly get summoned to help me.
One time I was exploring that ruined keep part before the Crystal Sage, and got invaded, I didn't give a shit about it and kept exploring, a Blue was summoned, fought the Red and died, then another one was summoned, and also died, and finally when a third one was summoned, the Red found me and started pushing my shit in, but then all of sudden the blue dropped on him with a plunging attack and killed him.
Poor guy, I didn't manually summon anybody, but he still had to go through 3 blues to get to me.

Scaling works completely differently, in old games stats got weaker the more you leveled them so Quality builds were good. In DS3 stats get exponentially better the more points you put into them, so quality builds will always be shit in comparison to pure str/dex

I died 5 times to this guy, and when I won, I did because I was at my limit and when he spawned along with his clones, I decided to rush for the one I thought to be the real one before they even started chanting their spells so I could tell from the colors, and turns out I was right.
I don't know about you, but the clone's heavy soul arrows did around 60% hp damage to me, and the crystal sage's did 80% damage, and his homing, slow moving orb killed me in one hit.
And considering you can be hit by several of them at the same time, it is very easy to die instantly to that boss.
What's the best 1H sword and shield combo in the game?
I'm currently using a black knights shield and +3 broadsword, but I don't want to waste my twinkling titanite if the payoff isn't worth it.

Actually that appears to only be for magic, scaling doesn't start till 20 points, then starts getting better at 50.
But for str/dex

It's a great weapon, especially the weapon skills. I think the Washing Pole is a bit better because of the extra range, but it also consumes a fuckton of FP with the weapon skill R1, so that can be a problem.
The Black Blade is good too, it has a different 1H R2 that's similar to the weapon skill R1, and a different 2H R2. Shitty range but it hits harder than the other katanas.
It's nice in PvP because the weapon skills are hard to tell apart from your opponent's perspective, so it's difficult to tell if you're going for a parry or an R1.

Yea, his overhead smash and the Gwyn-style wide swing are really easy to parry. Two parries should push him into phase two. Once you get there, just tunnel free damage into him when he's charging and summoning the spirit, and wait for him to do his ground AoE to finish him off.

Sage is a very shit boss. Basically you have to have a reliable stagger. Once I swapped from scythe to lothric straight it was easier. You also want to learn his spots. He tends to favor a few over others when he splits so be on him before he can even cast and he'll start a new split before clones can cast.

Probably both.
They give you a huge amount of estus now, its like every bonfire is fully kindled for free, and rolls are reay forgiving.
If you have a good dps weapon you can basically just damage race every boss because you have so much health to work with and spamming roll will usually get you away safely enough to sippy.
Some of the bosses like pontif and dancer can still kill you if you slip up though.

It helps some. I would reccomend getting Vit, End, and Vigor all to at least 20, just so that you aren't a squishy fuck who runs out of stamina and gets womboed after only 3 hits. Stamina seems to give more gains to dex builds and light weapons than it does to strenght builds with heavy weapons....
But with some extra Stamina, you might get an extra hit or dodge roll out of an ultra greatsword. No longer will you be able to just spam non stop with super heavy weapons. Now the trade off for the easy poise destruction and huge range is stamina limiting your swings.
Still, if you are going full ultra greatsword, Getting 40 endurance might be core- That should get you 3 extra swings and a dodge roll out of danger- should be enough to crush a white phantom in a single combo.

Okay from the dancer bonfire enter lothric castle, take the left staircase to enter the consumed gaden.
In the consumed garden just run straight forward ignoring everything because the area is ass.
You will hit a fog gate and fight the consumed king, he is basically Vordt but even easier.
Beat him and go past him, you'll get some stuff and there will be a very obvious invisible wall.
Hit it to enter the untended graves. This is literally the tutorial area but at night.
At the end of that is Champion Gundyr.
Past him isDark Firelink shrine, there is an invisible wall where the miracle bitch would be and the item firekeeper's eyes hidden there.

I haven't tried faith yet, but one issue with spells in general is that to get good damage you really need to stack rings. Small boost, big boost, and clutch ring together boost damage by like 60%. The clutch ring also jacks up elemental damage for infused weapons. The ring alone is giving me 50 AR on my +10 weapon, for example.
This is also one of the reasons why Pyromancy generally does better than the other casters. They get all their rings and access to some of their best spells incredibly early compared to clerics and mages. Very little resists fire as well.

On a side note, I wish there was more upgrade material out there, even that it just cost souls and not titanite as well. The thing I like most about Souls games is trying out different weapons, but I've been stuck with the Black Blade since Pontiff because I can't level up anything to as high.

Enemies drop large shards like crazy in lothric castle, and towards the end of the castle they drop chunks like crazy too.
Also you can buy infinitely of every upgrade material from the shrine maiden except slabs (of which there are like 7 per playthrough), but most require finding the right ashes to give her.
Personally I like how titanite played out in the game, although it definitely felt like +4 to +10 happened a lot faster than the period I was stuck at +3. Might have just been because I started steamrolling the game at a certain point.

Sirris is the only one who doesn't like rosaria's fingers. Also you have to join them to do leonhards, and I didn't manage to juggle both together.
What I did was do sirris' quest up until she kills her grandfather and swears allegiance to you as a knight. Got her shield laying at a grave outside firelink and figuring she was dead, I then joined rosaria's fingers before leonhard's quest requires it to do his stuff. Turns out she wasn't dead, came back and got pissed. So I killed her, got her talisman, and her gear is sold at the vendor. As far as I know, I basically got everything I possibly could have from her while still going to rosaria's fingers. The only thing I'm not sure about is Creighton's armor set. Whether it's even in the game, and if maybe it would show up upon truly finishing Sirris' quest.
After you kill a boss, Irina's knight will go off and die where you found her anyway giving you his shit. Only reason to fight him would be if you want it earlier. Also it plays into Irina herself. Buying all of her dark miracles has a different outcome than buying none of them but buying all the holy ones. Not sure if you get anything different out of it. You can also give the dark miracle tomes to another trainer later anyway.
