Reminds me of my guild in BC. Officer ranks were usually given out of merit, necessity, etc. Every officer was a decent player and I eventually got to join them. A few months later GM decided to change the 'policy' and rewarded people who constantly recruited with an officer rank. They didn't have to do ANYTHING else, but recruit.
