TPP is de facto the killer of the franchise since Konami is out of the AAA business, Hideo is gone, TPP was a massive disappointment to metal gear fans, and very few people are going to consider Metal Gear Solid 6: Mobile Ops in those same terms.
Also, if you look at the cutscene/gameplay ratio as a percentage, MGS4 isn't that far off from MGS2. It's just that with more game, more cutscenes and longer ones back to back.

I didn't mind this fight. It wasn't an over-the-top fuckfest of explosions and gayness. Then at the end Chief just fucking walks away like that guy wasn't nothin. I thought it being conservative spoke more volume.
That being said that game was awful.
Fuck this game, it just ends with mountains of open ends and even does a psuedo cliffhanger.

Okay, so I've seen this one a couple times. I'll admit to only having played this one on Xbone.
It's a pretty good time. Easy to fuck yourself over or miss important trinkets if you don't know what you're doing. Sure the city hub's a convoluted mess, the load times are killer, and there are lot's of points where only one interaction is possible. Despite all these, it's a welcome change of pace.
