It should illicit bonus content like Shenmue. You could get extra items by having Shenmue 1 and Shenmue 2 also, there were plans to be able to choose the girl Ryo ends up with by the end of the series based on how you played the other games.

Dishonored thrived on non-lethal only because it gave the only challenge it could. You could plug everyone in a level with the crossbow without much effort going the lethal route. It's just a way to experience as much as possible.
I get it sometimes, but why play Silent Hill Downpour first, or MGS3, etc.
