I'd believe it.

They went completely the wrong way with the site and when the Mario parody was over, rather, when the fad jumping faggots went to YouTube they really kinda fell off the scene.

I suppose part of it could be that flash is a terrible inefficient program and having a site dedicated to use it for its worst application might have been a factor.

That's my point. Flash game developers moved on to making games on Steam and such, since making GOOD free flash games would be a missed opportunity at making money. Their idea would be given a paint job and put on Steam by someone else if they didn't do it themselves.

Even Homoshit moved to Youtube for their videos, though they also crashed Newgrounds about 3 years ago so that was also a factor. Flash has completely stagnated and can't do any of the fancy shit you can do in Premiere, After Effects, Toonboom and whatever, so all big animators dropped it and moved to video sites.

Flash games got killed by greedy indie jews and better software like Unity. Mobile was definitely one of the biggest factors in killing Flash, since it ran like shit in the beginning of the mobile transition and it's still kind of a pain for normies to get support for it, not like they care about it anymore.

The other points are really sad, the web was made up of a bunch of tiny sites, some bigger than others but the little guys still had decent enough traffic and communities. Now it's all big name corporate sites.

These things aren't necessarily mutually inclusive. The Gmod/SFM community was always going to die because the people who were interested in those things in the first place simply got older and moved on.

So many better tools out for animating then flash now.

Hell even professional animation software that studios have also have free versions like OpenToons. (I think that's what it's called. The software Studio Ghibli and the animators of Futurama used)

Okay, I have a shitty little vidya site, and I intend to start a forum. The goal would be something like "/v/ without so damn much negativity".

The big question about forums and imageboards is that moderation makes or breaks them. That's something I intend to pay special attention to. Also socjus, fuck socjus. Beyond that, I have some ideas for rules.

Any ideas, suggestions etc? Anything from rules to aesthetics welcome.

If I remember, the guy who owns us now MADE 2ch, but sold people's info to some kind of Japanese blogging business, so he got kicked out by the current owners of 2ch (who also own Cripple now), but then the maker of 2ch made 2chan, which Moot ripped off to make 4chan, which eventually got bought out by the owner of 2chan.

You obviously don't browse normal forums. There are few places with so much hidden negativity as normal forums. Sure, you make some spineless pansies feel comfortable, but the rest of the users are constrained by the rules and moderation.

I'm not an anarchist, but I've learned that the less rules there are on the internet, the better. As a moderator you'll always have the power to bring some jerk to knees, but don't make a nanny state where people can't really speak their minds.

There's a reason you still post here. When usernames and rulebooks come into play, talking to people doesn't feel as fun and noncommittal anymore. It becomes a chore.

This is why it's important in life to contribute and not just be a consumer. New things need to come into existance that are wort filling the gaps.

Sadly modern economy wants us to become passive, stupid consumers. It doesn't give anything but take everything. Can't live on that. Good education for everyone would be a start.

I'm sure I'm not the first one noticing that the society is on decline in our "civilized" countries.
I don't want these times in which everything has to make money because money is like a drug. Current society revolves around money and influence. Topics of importance are silenced to make it seem like everything is under control. All media reports the same stuff. Everyone serving like a dog to those with money get's his ass paid well while those that stand their ground for good reasons may have people supporting them but the influence is missing because money goes with influence, not people.

I'm just genuinely waiting for the crash and wonder whether or not that'll be WW3. Not saying this will solve or change anything but this is what it leads to when you fuck your society up.

Speaking of the old Internet dying, this is how you kill 4chan, or at least the big boards.

Create a site that logs the amount of (You)s you get. I don't know how you would do it, but a site that logs each person's (You) count would fucking murder this site in terms of conversation. It would be like Karma on Reddit, but even worse, because even negative (You)s would up your score.

Modern capitalism pushes people to be passive, indolent consumers, so we get manchildren, hipsters and other such social flotsam. Smaller sites are made redundant by things like Youtube where you can post almost any video media, and dedicated forums are being made redundant by sites like reddit, which can house a subsection for literally any topic

The internet has played a large role in this stagnation, however. A platform that should've been used for the rapid-fire sharing of ideas and creativity is simply used for people to look at funny videos of things, watch movies, getting instant gratification in any way possible. Kills motivation if you can get instant gratification with the click of a mouse or the swipe of a finger.
