anyways, its really true. the less defined and deep your character, the easier it is to put your own headcanon over it. like those tic-tac mini...things, whatever. if you dont actually show the lips, nose, or anything more complex then a vague circle or whatever era of anime your looking at as their face, it becomes easier to do this. try to imagine, say, insertmoeblobhere flinging a friend straight into a brick wall, destroying it. easy peasy, shes about as shallow as the paper shes drawn on and anything really could happen. now try to imagine the president, slamming his friend next to him into a wall, breaking it. well, we know the president isnt that strong, wouldnt do that, and it would likely end his career, and his friendship. now imagine said moeblob sucking your dick. your probably picturing your waifu and shes saying "i love you oniichan!" or something, because really, who knows what she would really do. now, imagine a hot 10/10 irl girl sucking your dick. yeah, unlikely, isnt it.

i can imagine both scenarios just as easily. i don't think it has anything to do with simplicity. we see these designs being used as waifu bait in games like hyperdimension neptunia because they want the easiest design. its their actually character, mannerisms and VAs that make them easy to put your own headcanon over it, not the simplicity. you can have very complex, defining futures and still have the same effect so long as the character is designed to be primarily cute.
