Why do people hate Final Fantasy 8?

Emo protag, hilariously broken mechanics, crap story with stupid twists. Personally I enjoy the game for how sloppy it is and how easily broken everything is. You have to purposely try not to power game.

this. it is either tedious and boring or game breaking with nothing really inbetween. By drawing enough magic and junctioning it to the proper stats the entire game becomes press x to attack to win. The exploration felt pretty shit too since most of the game's areas are impossible to revisit after a point.
